Former two-term Governor Angus King is running for U.S. Senate in Maine. King served his two terms as Governor as an Independent and is running for U.S. Senate as such too. By all accounts he is going to run a competitive race. Polling, although early, has shown him in the lead and now he is leading the fund-race too.

Former Maine Independent Gov. Angus Kingsolidified his frontrunner status by taking in more cash than any other candidate, raising $173,562 in the first quarter, according to the latest FEC filings.

Given all of the speculation over which political party King will caucus with, it will be interesting to note who is donating to his campaign.

King lead the fund-race by more than $35,000+ in the first quarter.
