On June 23, 2013, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the main newspaper serving Virginia’s state capital, published an editorial by Bart Hinkle on a third option voters will have in November if they are dissatisfied with the Republican and Democratic candidates for governor, current attorney general Ken Cuccinelli and former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman. Terry McAuliffe. The third candidate, Libertarian Party nominee Robert Sarvis, has submitted over 17,000 petition signatures to be placed on the ballot that are currently pending review and certification from the state board of elections. Hinkle notes Sarvis’ strengths as well as potential weaknesses in the article, and provides some speculative analysis on what a Sarvis adminstration would look like were the Libertarian elected, an unlikely scenario Hinkle evidences by pointing out that the last Libertarian candidate for governor in the state, William Redpath, won only 0.8% of the vote.
The column is entitled “Yes, Virginia, there is a Door No. 3.”

A good write-up for Sarvis. It’s nice to see mainstream print media acknowledge other choices exist in elections.
Less surprising, but still good to see, Reason.com wrote an article about Mr. Sarvis as well.
