Thanks for the reminder. Haven’t gotten to it yet, but IIRC he lives in Ohio, so he should be at the convention, yes, particularly since he wants to run for LP presidential nomination, correct? Maybe I’ll be able to interview him there. Need to pack now, I have been procrastinating on that too much.

I do understand what you are saying William. I would probably disagree with Phil on a lot of policy issues, but I agree with the spirit of his speech and I think it could inspire the next generation if repeated.

I did miss the city councilman part. Thanks for pointing it out. I would still prefer to see a greater pattern of past success in a candidate.
Jill, Davison is/was a city councilman, and we are more than two years out from the presidential election so I don’t think it’s impossible; but then again city councilman < congressman.

Since Mr. Davison hasn’t held office, I looked for a pattern of success in his working life. According to Wikipedia, he worked as a bailiff until 2009. He’s certainly highly educated to be working as a bailiff. I’d have trouble supporting anyone without a previous pattern of success.
If he is serious, William, perhaps you can tell him about our site, and ask him to write something for us. 2016 isn’t terribly far away.
I never hear anyone in our party talk about Mr. Davison. Since he’s never held office, I can’t imagine he’d be brought in at the last minute like Barr was, so if he’s really interested in the LP’s nomination, he should have started a year or two ago.

Also, I just checked his FB page. There’s been nothing for over a year, and it looks like he checks in only about once a year.

A journalist from the Canton Repository provided me with his e-mail address. I e-mailed him and I was directed to his Facebook page. There are personal pictures and items dating back before the speech. I have no reason to doubt its authenticity. I also have a phone number for him. Darryl called and talked to him during the BTP presidential nomination.
By publicly verifiable I mean for example a phone number that is listed on his government office website, if he has one.
I don’t know if a facebook account claiming to be him is actually him.

Nope, still not in any way a good fit.
I’m only repeating what I heard. Maybe someone was trying to be funny. Regardless, Rocky denied it. Phil Davison could’ve given a boost to any campaign, regardless of party. Nevertheless, when asked, Davison personally told me he is interested in the Libertarian Party’s 2016 presidential nomination and that is probably a better fit.
And failing spectacularly.
Some local politician’s over the top emotional rant about how loyal he is to the Republican Party makes him a good fit with Rocky Anderson? Come on. Not only does that not pass the laugh test, it’s not even allowed in the laugh test exam room due to poor personal hygiene, lack of properly concealing attire, and inability to hold a pencil.
No. This is what I’ve been arguing for the past year or so, at least internally. Phil Davison is the embodiment of free speech. I’ve been trying to capture the essence of this for a Saturn’s Repository article. I’m trying to reach anyone who will listen.
You are reaching, and it’s painfully obvious. Is there someone you think you are persuading?
Davison makes some very compelling arguments about campaigns and politics. As he says, he is a pragmatic thinker, and in subsequent interviews, he discusses how he put much thought into writing the speech. If you read the transcript, you will see that it is actually a well-reasoned address that expresses what he wishes to express. It is a perfect mix of emotion and intelligence that I believe will encourage and persuade the next generation. The audience didn’t understand it. Much like the audience didn’t understand Marty McFly’s rendition of “Johnny B. Goode” in “Back to the Future.” “I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it.”
Look at the substantive points I listed above: when times are bad, it presents a unique opportunity for changes; local politics is where change in the system occurs; there is only one winner in politics; and knowledge is the most important element in any campaign.
What better way to emphasize the importance of local politics, which few care about, than actually making it interesting? City and village councils would be packed with people if this were commonplace.
I believe this is the way we need to regain the right to free speech. Make it interesting, but be substantive as well.
I am asking you, since I have heard no such talk about Davison teaming up with Anderson, since it doesn’t seem logically plausible, since I have no idea who your source is (and suspect it is yourself), and since you seem to speculate about the idea in positive terms and seem to suggest that Davison’s rants are well-thought arguments (while providing no evidence that they are).

Sounds like meaningless pablum and might makes right drivel. How does it have anything to do with Rocky Anderson’s or Justice Party’s issues?

Raw emotion is sometimes the best way to convey a well-thought out argument.
Phil Davison? Now there’s a guy who never put emotions over logic.
I heard Phil Davison’s name floated around as a possible running mate for Rocky Anderson in 2012, though Rocky flatly denied it. I wonder how things would have worked out differently had that choice been made.
I thought even Rocky Anderson had given up on them.
