A message from Scott Pettigrew of the Libertarian Party of Ohio

UnknownA message from Scott Pettigrew of the Libertarian Party of Ohio (Executive Committee Vice Chair)

To the delegates:

As you probably know, the Libertarian Party of Ohio has so far been barred from the ballot during the 2016 election cycle, due to the enactment of SB193 (“The John Kasich Re-election Protection Act”). The LPO has been fighting for reinstatement to the ballot on multiple fronts. One of those fronts is an independent ticket for President & Vice President, using stand-in candidates who will eventually be swapped out for the LP Nominees. This is well-established in Ohio law, and has long been used when ballot access has been denied.

This petition drive requires valid signatures from at least 5,000 registered Ohio voters in order that the nominee be placed on the ballot. If you’d like to help with this effort, you can find the petition at my website: For information on how to print it, circulate it, etc., please see me.

One of the reasons I bring this up is that a couple of the LP presidential candidates’ campaigns have pledged support for this campaign, and as I approached them, I promised them that I would let our delegates know of the support level that we’ve received from these campaigns.

To date, we have received the following levels of pledges for valid signatures (or payment for an equivalent # of signatures). I will list them in the order in which I received the pledges, and will list the amount of pledged signatures as well. Please consider these as you make your decisions on whom you wish to see as the LP Nominee. If your candidate is not listed, and you think that they would like to assist us in our quest to ensure that the LP nominee *IS* on the ballot in Ohio, please help me make contact! Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Austin Petersen: 500 signatures
Gary Johnson: 1,000 signatures

Yours in Liberty.

The John McAfee / Judd Weiss campaign team is sending the request out right now to any of our volunteers who live in Ohio to go to the website and download petitions then get them signed. My expectation is that we have about 25-30 people we will be contacting.
If each of them get one page of the petition signed then that will be 525.

You did not list your email address, I am assuming it is easily found either on the petition or on your website. I need to know where they can send the signed petitions to. Since we are using actual volunteers to do the legwork, I can only give you an estimate of 500. I am hoping that it will be more.

Any other places that need petitions signed for Ballot Access, please let us know. We are more than happy to have our volunteers help with Ballot Access for the Party.

Thanks, Shivany! I’ve contacted you via facebook; thanks for taking the time to talk with me about this!

Before I include any such pledges in my releases, I will need official confirmation from someone within the campaign. A state coordinator would suffice, if one exists.
