Libertarian National Committee Member, Mayor of Calimesa, CA, and current candidate for the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, Jeff Hewitt, will, following a “jungle” primary election held last Tuesday (June 5th) advance to the general election as one of the “top two” candidates this fall.

Mayor Hewitt had been previously endorsed by the editorial board of the Riverside, CA based Press Enterprise.  The board wrote, in part:

Backed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and untied to the political establishment, Hewitt is the rare sort of politician who can get straight to the point about the problems of county government and speak honestly about what needs to be done.  For Hewitt, it’s time for the county to get serious about the pension problem. And he’s absolutely right. . .  None of the other candidates are likely to be as honest as he is when it comes time to communicate this to the public and county employees and get to a workable solution. . .  We strongly urge voters elect Jeff Hewitt to the Board of Supervisors.”

The full editorial can be read HERE.
Vote percentages are expected to change only slightly as additional mailed ballots are counted.  Updated results can be found HERE.

Jeff has been getting lots of good press, and I think he does indeed have a good chance of winning. California IS moving forward, despite Top Two and the crazy legislators we have here.

Awesome news. Getting Jeff Hewitt elected to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors would be a big accomplishment for the LP. This should be a high priority goal for November 2018.

Congratulations, Jeff! Excellent news. One of the few bright spots in California’s recent dismal “Top Two”-hampered election.
