The Green Party of the United States adopted a resolution to support Rage Against the War Machine over the weekend, joining the Libertarian Party and the People’s Party in calling an end to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, abolishing the CIA, and disbanding NATO, among other demands.
The resolution, formally adopted on Sunday, February 5, by the Green Party’s National Committee, affirms the organization’s endorsement of the event. Dr. Jill Stein, the Green Party 2012 and 2016 presidential nominee, also joins the lineup of public speakers.
“The Green Party of the U.S. has approved a statement calling for a negotiated end to the Ukraine War. Accordingly, the GPUS should support and endorse the February 19 “Rage Against the War Machine” anti-war demonstration in Washington DC,” the resolution stated.
“This action has already been endorsed by multiple anti-war groups, and the GPUS should join them to strengthen opposition to America’s endless wars. Although some of the groups participating in this demonstration do not share all of the goals of the GPUS, advancing the cause of peace, a pillar of the USGP platform, should take precedence over considerations of ideological homogeneity. The GPUS should play a leading role in the emergence of a unified U.S. anti-war movement.”
The Green Party previously spoke out against the war in Ukraine, citing several concerns in an October 10, 2022, press release.
Since its announcement, Rage Against the War Machine has attracted diverse proponents and critics. Speakers and organizational sponsors of the event have grown to include personalities in the movement such as former Reps. Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, and Tulsi Gabbard, as well as Scott Horton of antiwar.com. Sponsoring organizations include the Mises Caucus, Occupy Peace, and Free and Equal Elections.
Alternatively, the protest and its choice of speakers have garnered significant criticism from individual Libertarians and more conservative legacy media outlets. The Washington Examiner recently blasted the event’s choice of Scott Ritter as a speaker.
“On Feb. 19, the party and other aligned organizations are hosting a “Rage Against the War Machine” rally at the Lincoln Memorial and will march to the White House to demand peace negotiations, the disbanding of NATO, and a slashing of the Pentagon’s budget. One speaker for the event is slated to be Scott Ritter, however, who is a convicted sex offender,” the Washington Examiner lambasted.
Earlier this week, former LNC Vice Chair Joshua Smith also resigned from the Libertarian National Committee and the party earlier this week, citing the protest and threats made against him as a result as one of his reasons for growing disillusioned with the current direction of the Libertarian Party.
The Green Party has not returned Independent Political Report’s request for comment. Rage Against the War Machine is scheduled for February 19, 2023, at the Lincoln Memorial. Event organizers plan to sponsor future smaller rallies across the nation throughout the rest of the year.

Vermin Supreme leaves and denounces LP over Rally speaker.

No comment on the people who left the party because of Mr. Supreme being an embarrassment.
Also Ritter leaves event.
https://freebeacon.com/latest-news/pedophile-pulls-out-of-libertarian-anti-war-rally/
“Ritter was reinstated to the event after outcry from some of his fellow speakers. Andrew Napolitano, a former Fox News analyst, rallied to Ritter’s defense. So did Tara Reade, the former Joe Biden aide who has leveled unconfirmed sexual assault allegations against the president.
Libertarians called on Ritter again to drop out earlier this week, citing both his sex offender status as well as his comments that Ukraine was akin to a “rabid dog” that needed to be put down by Russia.
Ritter released text from the speech he planned to give at the rally. In it, Ritter strikes a decidedly pro-Russia tone and recites from Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, which the civil rights leader gave at the Lincoln Memorial nearly 60 years ago.
“I too have a dream,” Ritter says in his prepared remarks. “That by overcoming the hate generated by systemic Russophobia we can work with our fellow human beings in Russia to create communities of compassion that, when united, make a world filled with nuclear weapons undesirable, and policies built on the principles of mutually beneficial arms control second nature.”
Nick Brana, the head of the People’s Party, said it was “a shame” that Ritter pulled out of the event.
“Scott Ritter is a hero who has done more to stop war and save lives than almost anyone on Earth,” said Brana, who served as national political outreach coordinator for Bernie Sanders’s 2016 presidential campaign.”
So Democrats, Fox News commentators, and People’s Party/Bernie’s people support Mr. Ritter.
But Mr. Ritter is somehow all the zany US Libertarian Party’ s fault and divisive scandal.
It would have been better if the Green Party had been involved in this party instead of the People’s Party because the People’s Party is a new party with zero ballot access, whereas the Green Party has been around for a long time and has ballot access in a bunch of states.
Huh.
Both Russia and Ukraine were/are in the Partnership for Peace, the NATO waiting room.
Opposing NATO is a Ron Paul/far-right and far-left hobbyhorse.
It is not a Libertarian issue, though the LP can question any official agency or program.
They and more appropriately local national LP’s certainly can question any draft or taxation that may arise from NATO actions.
Zelensky ran as a pro-libertarian BTW on an anti-corruption ticket.
This had the effect of spooking Putin.
Reason: Libertarian fans in Russia were finding out many Russians were impatient with Putin’s speed in joining NATO.
Polls showed many favored leaving Russia (especially Siberia) and joining the US in some way.
Siberia and North European Russia, our new Commonwealths.
Our new Puerto Rico and Samoa, but with Doctor’s Sausage and Borsht.
This is why Putin’s people are saying crazy things like they want to retake Alaska and invade Canada.
Plus Putin or cronies, I have reason to believe, was involved in organized crime there.
I’m talking kidnapping Russian and Ukrainian girls and selling them to Islamic no-goods.
That a Russian neo-communism is arising under him and United Russia and no one is talking about that gives me concern.
That he has 300,000+ LIO libertarian fan homes in Russia gives HIM concern.
So LP fans should realize that NATO-like alliances around the world are a long-term Libertarian project.
NATO even began as a Libertarian project in my father’s living room.
The Green Party is even more off-mission per their platform, though I’m glad they’re speaking up on the Putin invasion.
If Mises Caucus really wants to be impressive, ‘take over’ the US Greens, please.
Then get them back on-mission of promoting small voluntary libertarian socialist eco-villages/condominiums/work co-ops.
What’s interesting is how the far-right and far-left are going berserk over what is a mini-event.
They only scream in concert like this when they feel Libertarian bombers overhead.
Then the chorus of ‘Libertarians are wrong, do-nothings, mixed up with extremists, corporate hacks, ineffective, should stop, etc. ‘ begins.
That the USLP is working with all these groups–which it always has done–is somehow NOW suddenly over a target.
Which target, I wonder.
MG to LP:
Bombs away.

Although the Green Party endorsed the event, it declined to sponsor the rally.
