Libertarian National Collaboration Suspends Operations Indefinitely

The Libertarian National Collaboration, an independent organization seeking to compete against the Libertarian National Committee, announced plans to suspend all current operations for the foreseeable future indefinitely.

“At this point we have made the decision to shelf this project indefinitely, and donate our resources to the Classical Liberal caucus,” the organization stated on Twitter Sunday afternoon. “We believe that this project may become necessary at some point in the future, but at this time we will be assisting in their goals.

The Libertarian National Collaboration initially announced its intentions on Twitter early last September. “This organization seeks to compete directly in the marketplace against the existing national party,” its Twitter account stated. “We wish to recruit all of those who are passionate about freedom and desire a world set free[.] We will not suffer the same fate as our predecessor as we will be spending months writing plans and ensuring that this organization may never be hijacked by those who seek to destroy us.”

In addition to introductions, the Collaboration outlined priorities that separated it from the current Libertarian National Committee. Chief among them was a firm stance against trolling and a membership revocation clause to remove candidates who supported creating a new law. “The new Libertarian National organization will have no leeway granted for those who seek to tarnish the word Libertarian by advocating to increase the power of the state on any issue,” it stated. In working toward accomplishing these goals, the Collaboration instructed all Libertarian Party supporters and affiliates to reorganize under it as their respective national organization and to cease donations to the Libertarian National Committee.

The Collaboration additionally generated significant conversation amongst grassroots Libertarians on social media for registering the LPNational.org domain, which the organization pushed back firmly against.

It’s unknown what organizing was done by the Libertarian National Collaboration, as leadership made few public comments after their initial introduction. Attempts to access the former Libertarian National Collaboration website result in a redirect to the Classical Liberal Caucus website, an organization dedicated to “growing the LP, holding the LP to the highest standard of professionalism, finding and developing effective communicators, and providing support and training for LP candidates and affiliates.”

As a member of the Classical Liberal Caucus, I have two things to say:

    Thanks?

    and

    Who?
