Republican Party presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy may be considering a run for president on the Libertarian Party ticket, according to local media with knowledge of the matter. However, a spokesperson for the Ramaswamy campaign insists that he remains focused on winning the Republican nomination.
A recent article published by the Des Moines Register reports that Ramaswamy has been in contact with members of the Libertarian Party of Iowa, allegedly expressing interest in joining their presidential ticket. Furthermore, one such party member defined as an “official” by the Register has confirmed the discussions.
Ramaswamy himself was also seen in a photo with Jules Cutler, the Chair of the Libertarian Party of Iowa, during an earlier Thanksgiving event. However, Cutler has since described the interaction as casual and brief.
Additionally, members of Ramaswamy’s campaign team have also been observed attending local Libertarian Party events, including one instance where members met with Polk County Libertarians to inquire about the logistics of running for the Libertarian Party nomination. Ramaswamy himself reportedly had no knowledge of the meeting.
While Ramaswamy has maintained that he is not seeking the Libertarian Party nomination and expects to become the Republican nominee, he has also stated that he identifies with libertarianism. Ramaswamy has said that he possesses “strong libertarian instincts” and would welcome the party’s nomination if they chose him as their candidate, saying he would be “proud if they did.”

Thomas, I think the primary goal of the misnamed caucus is not to help Trump but to make Michael Heise as much money as possible. Running Ramaswamy would be countrr to this goal as Heise would not be the campaign manager.
Is vivek r vr virtual reality / ai / an Indian? He voted libertarian in 2004, I think I read. I agree with Ryan and Thomas and possibly Robert maybe.
Vivek in a debate said we should invade Mexico…
I think Vivek is pretty clearly running for something that’s not President, a cable news hosting gig, a Cabinet position, Trump’s VP, whatever it is, it’s not Libertarian presidential candidate.
I doubt that the Mises PAC will allow the LP to nominate anyone who might successfully court Trump voters. Rectenwald is their perfect candidate — enough of a train wreck that Trump-leaners will stick with Trump and even “third party curious” Republicans/Democrats/Independents will recoil in disgust.
VR is a force of nature. I really don’t like his plan to attack Mexican cartels, and I sometimes find his pugilistic debate style a bit much, but yes he has many libertarian instincts.
