The Conservative Party of New York State nominated Republican Donald Trump and running mate J.D. Vance as its presidential ticket at its state convention over the weekend. The Trump-Vance ticket will appear on the New York state ballot under both party labels.
The Conservative Party reported this week that delegates met in Jericho on Saturday, where they nominated Trump and Vance as their official presidential choice.
Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio accepted the nomination on behalf of the ticket due to prior scheduling conflicts leaving them unable to attend. New York Congressman Anthony D’Esposito also attended the event, along with representatives from two Suffolk County-based police unions that recently put their support behind the ticket.
The Conservative Party of New York State was founded in 1962 as a response to conservative dissatisfaction with state Republicans. It is a state-specific organization that leverages New York’s fusion voting laws to its advantage. The party has historically endorsed every Republican Party nominee for the presidency since 1968; however, it has also fielded Conservative candidates for down-ballot races in specific instances with some success.
While other Conservative Party organizations exist, such as in Delaware, where members gave its nomination to Vermin Supreme, they are distinct organizations.

See, now that makes sense. As befits a libertarian, Ron Paul was more conservative than George H. W. Bush. Why would any nominally conservative party ever choose a progressive like Bush over a libertarian like Paul?

I did meet on New York Conservative at a conference of Young Americans for Freedom who was supporting Ron Paul in 1988. He later got a job as a aide to Ron Paul after he returned to Congress in 1996.
In 1988, 30 percent of the Conservative Party supported Ron Paul the Libertarian Party for candidate.

As the post notes, The New York Conservative Party has supported every Republican candidate for President since it was founded two years before the 1964 Goldwater campaign.
In 1968 and 1972 there were minorities on the state committee of the Conservative Party that opposed Richard Nixon.
In 1968, Nixon received 92 votes from committee members. 15 voted for George Wallace for President – 10.64%
34 voted for None of the Above – 24%.
Also in 1968, a couple of county chairs of the Conservative Party campaigned for Wallace.
In 1972, Nixon received 156 votes – 38 voted for John Schmitz – the American Party candidate.
Aside from backing too many statist Republicans, the Conservative Party in New York has gotten more support for its own candidates for office than has
been given to any of the more extreme right-wing parties. In 1968, David Brinkley observed that George Wallace received 347,000 votes in New York State, while James Buckley, Conservative for Senate, received 1,139,000, noting there is an audience for respectable conservatism.
Since then, the Conservative Party has become too supportive of Republican Presidents including the warmonger George W Bush as well as Donald Trump.
