Muslim American Public Affairs Council Endorses Green Presidential Nominee Jill Stein

The Muslim American Public Affairs Council, an organization which advocates for the American Muslim community at all levels of government, officially endorsed Green Party presidential nominee Dr. Jill Stein this week.

In a video released on Thursday, Dr. Khodr Zaarour, the chair of MAPAC, praised Stein for her support of Palestinian rights and her campaign’s nationally-focused advocacy. “Her genuine care for our community was evident when she spent hours with us, listening, engaging, and offering solutions grounded in justice and humanity,” Zaarour stated. He also commended Stein for selecting Dr. Butch Ware as her vice presidential running mate.

Zaarour expressed dissatisfaction with both Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump, criticizing their failure to address key issues important to the Muslim community, particularly concerning U.S. foreign policy. He chided Harris for her “unwavering support” of Israel and her commitment to continuing the Biden administration’s policies, before adding that lip service from political parties will no longer be sufficient for gaining support from the American Muslim community.

Additionally, Zaarour noted the endorsement from MAPAC is limited to Stein and Ware for the presidential race. He said the organization will also seek to support down-ballot candidates across party lines, with those endorsements expected to be announced in mid-October.

The Muslim American Public Affairs Council, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a membership organization focused on encouraging American Muslims to participate in the electoral process, lobby politicians, and present Islamic traditions and culture, among other priorities. It is important to note that MAPAC is distinct from the Muslim Public Affairs Council, which is a separate nonprofit organization.
