Arizona Libertarian Party Announces New Leadership

The Arizona Libertarian Party announced over the weekend that it is now under new leadership, with a complete turnover of its board of officers, including the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.

The party shared the news on social media on Saturday, initially stating it was “under new management” before later providing a full list of updated officers. According to the announcement, Dru Heaton has been named Chair of the Arizona Libertarian Party. She is joined by Pendleton Spicer as Secretary, Scott Stewart as Treasurer, and Thomas Deaton and Nathan Madden as the First and Second Vice Chairs, respectively. Sheila Shaver has been named Assistant Secretary, while Milly Ryan will serve as the new Assistant Treasurer.

This marks a full leadership transition from the previous board, which remains listed on the Arizona Libertarian Party’s website as of this article’s publication. The former board included Chair Michael McFarland, Secretary Roman Garcia, Treasurer Steven Bigelow, First Vice Chair Cory Tallman, Second Vice Chair Bill Yeniscavich, Assistant Secretary Nikki Giver, and Assistant Treasurer Gail Thompson.

The party also hinted at changes in its social media presence. When one user on X asked whether the transition referred to leadership or its page, the party responded with a simple “yes.” Users also reported previous account bans being lifted.

It is unclear if the leadership change occurred during a scheduled business meeting or convention, with Independent Political Report unable to find any advertising for the former. However, the Arizona Libertarian Party has traditionally held its annual convention in January since at least 2021. Currently, links to meeting minutes and details about past conventions on the party’s website are inaccessible. Independent Political Report has reached out to the party for clarification.
