The Arizona Libertarian Party has elected an entirely new slate of officers at its state convention, with a complete leadership turnover across all top officer positions.
In a January 25 update, the party announced it was “under new management,” later releasing a full list of newly elected officers. Dru Heaton was named chair of the Arizona Libertarian Party. She is joined by Pendleton Spicer as secretary, Scott Stewart as treasurer, and Thomas Deaton and Nathan Madden as first and second vice chairs, respectively. Sheila Shaver was also named assistant secretary, while Milly Ryan will serve as assistant treasurer.
The transition represents a full change from the previous board, which remained listed on the Arizona Libertarian Party’s website at the time of this article. The former officers included Chair Michael McFarland, Secretary Roman Garcia, Treasurer Steven Bigelow, First Vice Chair Cory Tallman, Second Vice Chair Bill Yeniscavich, Assistant Secretary Nikki Giver, and Assistant Treasurer Gail Thompson.
The party also alluded to changes to its social media practices following the leadership shift. When an X user asked whether the “new management” referred to party leadership or its social media accounts, the party responded simply, “yes.” Users also reported that some previous account bans had been lifted.
Independent Political Report does not have additional details about the state convention at which the leadership changes occurred, as no public advertising or event information is readily available. The Arizona Libertarian Party has traditionally held its annual convention in January, dating back to at least 2021. As of January 27, links to meeting minutes and information about past conventions on the party’s website were inaccessible.
