Which will kick the bucket first, Trump or the LP (national)? Barring the former’s assassination, I’m betting the latter.

The Forward Party Women’s Committee held its first quarterly meeting of 2025 this week. According to the party, the committee discussed plans and priorities for the year ahead as they “work to drive change and make an impact nationwide.”

According to screenshots of an email allegedly sent by the Libertarian Party Mises Caucus to supporters currently circulating on social media, the caucus is pushing for Michael Heise to be the next Chair of the Libertarian National Committee. Notably, the Mises Caucus also opens in the email that Angela McArdle stepped down as chair “for a post in the Trump administration.”

Note also the motion to set up an phony investigative committee against McArdle, pre-loaded against her with 60% anti-McArdle clowns:

As expected, the national party continues the trajectory of self-destruction initiated by its judicial committee.
The Libertarian National Committee is voting on a motion to appoint Region 2 Representative Jonathon McGee as its new vice chair. The position has been vacant since Mark Rutherford stepped down last December.
McGee was elected at last year’s Libertarian National Convention in Washington, D.C., and is serving his first term. He was previously the Vice Chair of the Libertarian Party of Alabama.

While not explicitly related to third party or independent news, President Donald Trump delivered his inauguration address today, touching on topics that these parties and movements will inevitably respond to and use to help influence their priorities for the next four years.
Livestream available through CSPAN.
A “cash bar” – after already charging $50-$100 for entry to “the most affordable inauguration event in DC”?! Just think how much hooch you could buy with that money instead, if you just met up with each other somewhere for free…
The MAHA ball may have been shared mistakenly after all, as the Libertarian Party published (and reshared) additional advertising for its own inauguration event this week.

The Democrats continue to be so angry that Russia is no longer a communist dictatorship. Back when it was, they loved it and were always seeking closer ties and to make concessions.
Trying to enforce a dress code on libertarians is bound to go down well… But at least the Waldorf Astoria matches the party’s taste for luxury it can’t afford.
The venue for the LP’s own “affordable” $50 inauguration party, meanwhile, appears to be located over an unpopular liquor store, and has rebranded (The Groove, Groove Lounge, Lounge DC, 1905 Lounge, 1905 Bistro & Bar, 1905 Restaurant, etc.) so frequently that you’d almost start to think there’s something fishy going on… You know, much more like what you’d expect from a Libertarian Party, really.
Independent Political Report has been sent the following photo and told that the Libertarian Party shared it on its X account this afternoon before quickly deleting it. The photo advertises a Make America Healthy Again-themed inauguration event featuring Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as a speaker. A link to the Libertarian Party’s own inauguration party remains active. It is unclear whether this was a mistake by someone involved with the social media team, or an indication that the party might instead involve itself with the MAHA event.

Wild fires: helping your tax dollars be less wasted than they were before. Nice.
However cynical you may be about Democrats, you are not cynical enough:

As I have said before, Jordan, I am allergic to hypocrisy and double-standards, and so reserve the right to answer anyone in kind.
I am quite content to abide by IPR’s civility policy, so long as others do the same; but I am equally happy to disregard it, when others do so.
Thus, so long as banderites like Roman-wannabibi-Shukhevich and antisemites like Northrop-Grundmann and Solipsistic Dungfly continue to spam their “ugly invectives”, blood libels and copy-pastas, I will continue to call them out and expose them for the nazis they are.
Moderate or do not, as your conscience dictates. “Consistency is all I ask; give us this day our daily mask.”
Charles Byrd, a member of the Executive Committee of the Libertarian Party of California, passed away over the weekend after a battle with cancer. In his memory, the LPCA is helping to raise donations for his family to assist with funeral arrangements. Additionally, the party is encouraging its county affiliates to host regular ice cream meetups, something Byrd organized while alive, as a tribute to his life and contributions.

A quick reminder to everyone to keep comments focused on the topic at hand, at least generally speaking. While I personally prefer not to moderate comments more than necessary, I will need to step in if the broader team feels that discussions are starting to distract from the articles or discourage other readers.
Thanks, Jordan. This indicates Krawchuk is accepting the outcome of JC’s vote as legitimate – for better or worse – but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t the one sensible member who voted dissentingly from the majority opinion. I look forward to reading his (or whoever’s) dissenting opinion.
Written opinions should be available soon; however, email correspondence between Judicial Committee member Ken Krawchuk and Region 3 Alternate Keith Thompson suggests that Caryn Ann Harlos should be considered the current secretary of the Libertarian National Committee.
Link to the photo due to size.
Good, good. The fools are continuing to force the stand-off they started. Let me guess, Krawchuk was the lone voice of justice again?
Next the LNC needs to expel these six idiots from the LP in perpetuity. And of course, also Harlos, someone I probably shouldn’t name because they are a member of IPR’s “owner or administrative staff” and “100 delegates to the 2024 Libertarian National Convention—including some former national party officers”…
Alternatively, perhaps someone could blackmail Seebeck and Montoni into tendering their resignations – no doubt there’s plenty of dirt on them. Or else, they could have unfortunately coinciding accidents, or suddenly develop simultaneous illnesses, or something else – really the possibilities are limited only by ones creativity – which prevents them from continuing to serve on the JC. Such timing would certainly give four specific other JC members some pause for introspection. “Nice Judiciary Committee you got there, it’d be a real shame if anything were to happen to it…” U+1F92A
Fanciful reveries aside though, it really doesn’t matter whether the LNC chooses to retaliate against the JC or not: Even if the former merely refuse to comply with this nonsense, the latter, furious at being held in contempt, will continue escalating in order to impose their will. And if the former are dumb enough to cave to these ridiculous demands, they will make themselves complicit and thereby alienate the Libertarians4Kennedy crowd, much of the LPCO, a good portion of the Mises Caucus and who knows who all else; while the latter, having learnt they can exercise power over the former, will continue escalating anyway and in their mad power-trip make even more impudent demands.
Types like Oliver, ter Maat, Harlos, Seebeck and Montoni are hellbent on eradicating all remaining traces of libertarianism from the Libertarian Party. They will either be defeated or they will succeed in destroying the party one way or another. And regardless of which, this is going to get very entertaining for every libertarian and libertarian-adjacent onlooker outside of the LP – even more than it already is, I mean…
Caryn Ann Harlos shared a screenshot of an email from the Libertarian National Committee’s Judicial Committee stating that her suspension has been overturned and that she is to be reinstated as National Secretary. Written opinions from the Judicial Committee are expected in the coming days. We will examine this further once the relevant documents are published.
Chase Oliver, Caryn Ann Harlos, Jeffrey Miron, Angela McArdle
One of these names is not like the others
One of these people does not belong
Can you tell which of these is too libertarian to be included in the interview
By the time I finish this song?
🙂
Ross Rosenfeld explored the future of the libertarian movement in a recent piece for The New Republic this week. In his article, Rosenfeld interviews several figures from both the political and academic spheres, including former presidential candidate Chase Oliver, former National Secretary Caryn Ann Harlos, and Cato Institute’s Jeffrey Miron. While Chair Angela McArdle is discussed in the article, she—and anyone else involved with the LNC aside from Harlos—is not interviewed.

They are a silly party of clowns.
They are a silly clown party.
As I recall it, the NHCLP are a ragtag bunch of libertines who left the LPNH because they found it too socially conservative. And their chair Daryl d’Angelo’s twitter feed also decries the Free State Project for being too socially conservative. Yet now they are affiliating themselves with a national party that just fielded as their presidential candidate Laura Ebke: a woman who – as far as I’ve been able to tell, at least – is more socially conservative than the majority of the LPNH and FSP put together… I feel like I’m taking crazy pills – no, scratch that – I feel like the NHCLP and Liberal Party USA are taking Avens O’Brien pills.
Can someone get a Polymarket bet going on whether d’Angelo or Ebke will quit or get kicked out of the Liberal Party USA first?
IPR learned last month that the Liberal Party USA had expanded into New Hampshire by affiliating with the New Hampshire Classic Liberal Party during the weekend of the Liberal National Convention. The NHCLP publicly confirmed the affiliation in a statement made this week.
