The Liberal Party USA announced plans over the weekend for a training conference to be held later this year in Texas. The event, which the party has called “The New Frontier Summit,” is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2025 in Houston.
“We are the party of the future… Save the date for The New Frontier Summit on Memorial Day Weekend 2025 in Houston, TX!” the party stated in an advertisement promoting the event.
While specific details about the summit have not yet been released, an accompanying graphic produced by the party indicated it will serve as both a strategy summit and a training seminar. The party stated that additional information will be provided in the coming future. This will mark the first formal event organized by the Liberal Party USA since its inaugural national convention last December, which notably also took place in Texas.
The Liberal Party USA was established in 2024 as a reorganization of the Association of Liberty State Parties, a coalition of independent state parties founded by former Libertarians disaffected with the Libertarian National Committee. The party currently has twelve state affiliates, with supporters claiming that efforts are underway to organize new chapters in nine additional states.
First of all – the Liberal Party has to actually stand for something. Then, maybe, they will be something.
“specific details about the summit have not yet been released […] The party stated that additional information will be provided in the coming future.”
… Yup, that sounds like a “party of the future” alright xD

@Andy
“wonder if they have any idea how difficult it is to get and maintain ballot access and how difficult it will be to get people to sign petitions”
They should, given that most of them came from the LP or other third parties, or else have been involved with independent campaigns.
“The word liberal is toxic to a lot of people. Few people know what a classical liberal is. Most people automatically assume that liberal means left wing progressive socialist.”
Only the retarded and ignorant types whom you wouldn’t want on-board anyway. Then again, that does seem to describe most contemporary Republicans/RINOs/MAGAts and Democrats, huh…

@Unimportant
“Do they see it as something government should fund or subsidize, or are they taking it more from the angle of unleashing the potential of free market capitalism to settle the new frontier?”
Well, wouldn’t that be a nice little litmus test of what kind of “liberal” they are 🙂
NewFederalist, do you really believe that the general public pays attention to the Libertarian National Committee, knows who is on it, knows what they are doing and even knows that it exists.
Reality is that hardly anyone follows the LNC, especially when it comes to internal party stuff. Even with LNC press releases or media appearances not many people see it or care about it.
I agree with you, Andy. I can understand wanting to separate from the LNC as the present leadership appears very toxic and the Libertarian brand may be sullied but the party has spent 50 years trying to make the term Libertarian understood. I suspect the current leadership will give way to another regime in time and the brand can be restored.If not, I don’t see a liberty movement coalescing around the term Liberal.
The advertising does seem to show that it’s all about settling outer space. I didn’t realize that is a big issue for them. Do they see it as something government should fund or subsidize, or are they taking it more from the angle of unleashing the potential of free market capitalism to settle the new frontier?
I wonder if they have any idea how difficult it is to get and maintain ballot access and how difficult it will be to get people to sign petitions to place a Liberal Party on the ballot in a lot of places. Go to any Red area and one will have a very difficult time getting people to sign for a Liberal Party. The word liberal is toxic to a lot of people. Few people know what a classical liberal is. Most people automatically assume that liberal means left wing progressive socialist.
Even those who identify as left wing liberals most of them are Democrats and they will fear that a Liberal Party will take votes from Democrats and will not want to sign for that reason.
What new frontier are they talking about? Outer space?
