United Independents to Host Networking Event on Electing Independent Congressional Candidates

The group United Independents is set to host a networking event later this week in Washington, D.C., focused on exploring strategies to elect a bloc of independent congressional candidates in the 2026 election cycle. According to the group, the event will be free and open to the public.

“With dozens of leaders coming together to strategize for the 2026 campaign to elect a bloc of Independent candidates to the House, we’ll share a public presentation on the campaign’s purpose and strategy,” United Independents stated in an email briefing over the weekend.

On its registration page, the group describes the effort as a two-year campaign aimed at electing a small bloc of independent candidates to Congress. The initiative is framed as an “inarguable indication that Independents are on the rise and will have a greater and greater impact shaping the future of electoral and legislative politics in our nation.”

The several-hour-long event will feature a public presentation on the campaign’s objectives and a networking session. Organizers plan to outline the group’s overall strategy, introduce the individuals leading the initiative, and host a Q&A session for attendees. Additionally, the group aims to identify and support a slate of what it describes as “winnable non duopoly candidates” for the 2026 cycle.

The effort, called Operation Phoenix in previous briefings, is said to involve collaboration with several established third parties, including the Libertarian, Green, and Forward parties; however, none have yet to publicly confirm any formal involvement. Last month, United Independents announced that “national and regional leaders” from former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign had also joined the effort.

“Organizers plan to outline the group’s overall strategy, introduce the individuals leading the initiative, and […] identify […] a slate of what it describes as ‘winnable non duopoly candidates'”

Yes, those are indeed what everyone’s been waiting to hear – for what feels like an eternity by now… Unfortunately though, I still haven’t yet forgotten the taste their 2024 national convention schedule left in the mouth – a flavor that has only been reinforced since then, by which parties they are, and apparently aren’t, seeking to “unite in a collective campaign effort”… In short, (cis,cis)-3,6-nonadienal, IYKWIM AITYD.
