Independent National Convention to Meet This Week in Colorado

The Independent National Convention, a multi-day gathering of activists and political leaders focused on strengthening the independent political movement through resource sharing and strategic organizing, will take place this week in Denver, Colorado.

The convention begins on Tuesday, September 17, at the Denver Marriott Tech Center and runs through Thursday, September 19. It is hosted by United Independents, Inc., a nationally-focused group which first began organizing conventions for independent-minded activists in 2020. According to the convention’s official website, its primary goal is to help elect independents to public office and foster collaboration among independent activists and candidates by offering a platform to share organizing strategies and mobilize around similar political objectives.

Featured panels and discussions will explore various topics relevant to the independent movement, such as strategies for funding independent campaigns, promoting alternative medicine and health independence, exploring voting system reform, integrating technology into governance, and advocating for government and financial transparency.

The convention will feature a diverse range of speakers and performers from across the political spectrum, including professionals in the tech, cryptocurrency, election reform, and filmmaking sectors. Prominent figures from several third parties will also participate, such as Andrew Yang, Lindsey Drath, and Kerry Healy of the Forward Party; Larry Sharpe, James Wiley, and Jordan Nichols of the Libertarian Party; and Rex King of the Alliance Party. Additionally, 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson—who will deliver the convention’s keynote speech on Wednesday—and former Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich are scheduled to attend as major speakers.

A featured panel on Wednesday exploring the rise of a United Independent Movement is also expected to include Green Party presidential nominee Dr. Jill Stein, according to an email sent by organizers, though her name is not currently listed among the featured speakers on the convention’s website.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was originally scheduled to speak, withdrew following his decision to suspend his independent presidential campaign. However, key figures from his campaign, including Ballot Access Director Nick Brana and Communications Director Del Bigtree, will still attend. Candace McDonald, CEO of the American Values 24 Super PAC, which ran a pro-Kennedy ad during this year’s Super Bowl, will also be a featured presenter.

it was a great event…next time we need even more independent supporters and candidates!

  2. Nuña September 17, 2024

“United Independents, Inc.” is correct – in the same way as “Conservative, Inc.”: 0% united, 0% independent, 100% inc. It’s as if they looked at FreedomFest’s schedule and went “Hold my kombucha”.

“FORUM STAGE: PRESENTATION – Independents the Musical!”
    Sounds ghastly.

“FORUM STAGE: PRESENTATION – Morning Activation”
    Patronizing and pretentious.

    “FORUM STAGE: Entheo Lunch Set”
No clue what this is, but I already hate it. Can’t they even let people eat in peace?

“PEOPLE’S STAGE: Mental, Emotional & Physical Health Talks”
What does this have to do with independent politics? Again, patronizing and pretentious. Also, how many of these talks can there possibly be over the course of three days? They should have called it the “Mental, Emotional & Physical Health Talks Convention”.

“MOVEMENT STAGE: FEATURED PANEL – Independent Leadership: The Revolution We Need”
The LPNH already tried talking about that earlier this week. It didn’t go well for them.

“FORUM STAGE: PRESENTATION – Why Mental Health Needs to be a Critical National Priority”
Again, this could be a platform for an independent campaign, but fundamentally it has nothing to do with independent politics. Also, interesting use of capitalization.

“MOVEMENT STAGE: FEATURED PANEL – Why GovTech Innovations are Crucial to Creating the Republic We Want”
How deliciously dystopian and megalomaniacal sounding.

    “PEOPLE’S STAGE: Independent Politics Unplugged”
I was initially going to give this one a pass, because it is less bad than most other items. But wtf does that even mean? When have independent politics ever been plugged-in to begin with?

“MOVEMENT STAGE: FEATURED PANEL – Achieving Health Independence: Alternative Solutions for True Health & Healing”
… Yet again, great if you can build an independent campaign around this, but it has nothing to do with independent politics. This isn’t the “Independent Health Solutions Convention”. Or apparently it is, but it wasn’t billed as such.

“FORUM STAGE: PRESENTATION – Listen First, Overcoming Manipulation & Other Skills for Positive Civic Engagement”
Wow, couldn’t have made that sound any more creepy and manipulative, huh.

“MOVEMENT STAGE: FEATURED PANEL – Healing in Community: New Best Practices for Improving Mental & Physical Wellbeing”
This still has no place at a convention about independent politics. Is this entire thing a front for one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s goop cult retreats, or something?

“WORKSHOP ROOM: Improved Deliberation & Conflict Transformation Skills”
Oh I’ve heard about this. It’s what they teach social workers before sending them out to get shot and stabbed to death in “defund the police” neighborhoods…

“WORKSHOP ROOM: A Demo of Private Phones”
Private phones are so passé. Pagers are all the rage now. Hey, maybe the Israelis can hook up Jill Stein, Andrew Yang and Marianne Williamson with their latest models – I hear they are literally the bomb.

“MOVEMENT STAGE: SPECIAL KEYNOTE – Marianne Williamson”
Moving past the question of why she is invited at all, since the same question applies to several other speakers, how on earth is this extremely partisan Democrat the star speaker of the entire “Independent National Convention”?

“MAIN STAGE: INC MINI FILM FEST – ‘Plandemic the Musical!'”
Funny how none of the other films or musicals get their titles put in quotes but this one does. Anyway, it’s already been done (and probably better) by Rusty Cage: https://rumble.com/v3p33na-the-coronavirus-song-ft.-nerdcity.html

“MAIN STAGE: INC MINI FILM FEST – Bella Gaia Film”
“Bella Gaia”, really? Forgive me while a throw up.

“MOVEMENT STAGE: FEATURED PANEL – The Unique Impact of Feminine Leadership”
Oh huzzah, the show couldn’t go on without virtue signalling and tokenism. Listen, unless this is an hour long eulogy of Margaret Thatcher, Mary Tudor, Isabella of Castile or Jadwiga of Poland, save your breath, because it has no place at a convention (nominally) about independent politics.

“FORUM STAGE: PRESENTATION – Regenerative Ag, Food & Ecological Regeneration + Common Ground Film”
Assuming from context that “Ag” stands for “agriculture” rather than “attorney general”, this, yet again, really does not belong at a convention allegedly about independent politics. It also, yet again, sounds both creepy and pretentious.

“PEOPLE’S STAGE: Artists of the Rise Talks”
    Gesundheit.

“FORUM STAGE: PRESENTATION – Deeply Reimagining the Future of Civics Through Transformational Tech”
Did I mention this sounds dystopian and megalomaniacal? I guess it at least fits the theme of the convention though.
