Two New Region 1 Alternates Elected to Libertarian National Committee

Two new regional alternates were elected to sit on the Libertarian National Committee over the weekend, filling prior vacancies in the region. LNC Chair Steven Nekhaila also appointed new members to the Information Services Committee.

In a post on Saturday to the party’s public Business List, LNC Secretary Caryn Ann Harlos announced that Austin Martin of Hawaii and James Wiley of Colorado were elected by state affiliate leaders in Region 1 to serve as alternates to the National Committee. Due to Region 1’s size, which includes 15 state affiliates, it has two representatives and two accompanying alternates. Martin will serve as the first alternate, and Wiley as the second.

Martin is the chair of the Libertarian Party of Hawaii, while Wiley serves as the executive director of the Libertarian Party of Colorado. They replace former Region 1 alternates Andrew Chadderdon, whose name remains listed at the time of publication, and Nick Shawhan, whose name was last listed in late January. Independent Political Report is not aware of when Region 1 formally voted to remove its alternates, though members had voted to remove their regional representatives around the same time.

Additionally, LNC Chair Steven Nekhaila appointed five members to the Information Services Committee. According to the LNC’s Policy Manual, the committee is responsible for identifying and evaluating the party’s IT needs, recommending appropriate tools and assisting with implementation, and proposing data standards for communication between the national organization and state affiliates.

The newly appointed members include National Committee Vice Chair Paul Darr, Eric Fowler, Kyle Davis, Samuel Bohler, and Justin Carman. Fowler will serve as chair of the committee, with Darr as secretary.
