Former LNC Chair Nick Sarwark Announces Bid for At-large Vacancy

Former Libertarian National Committee Chair Nicholas Sarwark announced Wednesday that he is pursuing one of the two at-large vacancies to be filled during a special meeting of the committee early next month. Sarwark previously chaired the LNC from 2014 to 2020.

In an open letter published on Third Party Watch, Sarwark called on party donors and members to contact their representatives on the LNC in support of his candidacy. He pointed to his previous experience on the national committee during a period he characterized as one of strong growth in membership, fundraising, and candidate recruitment.

“If you want a focus on results,” Sarwark wrote, “please contact your LNC members. Urge them to vote for me to fill one of those vacant seats. Time is short!”

Earlier this month, Kathy Yeniscavich and Adrian Malagon resigned from the LNC in separate announcements shared to its public Business List. The national committee will meet in a special meeting on August 3 to fill the vacancies, with the terms set to begin the following day.

In her July 15 post, Yeniscavich warned the committee of financial instability and urged it to prioritize fundraising, stating the board could no longer afford to ignore the issue. She expressed support for the current leadership under Chair Steven Nekhaila and Vice Chair Paul Darr but described the party as “a ship that is sinking,” and called on members to renew, donate, and help keep the organization afloat.

Malagon announced his resignation the following day, citing what he regarded as ongoing internal dysfunction and a lack of seriousness within the committee. He described the board as factionalized and ineffective, and warned that the party was operating at a monthly net loss with projected liabilities approaching $150,000 by year’s end. His statement also included a critical message from an anonymous former board member alleging institutional decline under the leadership of former Chair Angela McArdle, who stepped down in January.

Aside from Sarwark, Pietro Salvatore Geraci and Tony D’Orazio are also seeking a seat on the LNC, but Independent Political Report is unaware of any public statements or announcements from either candidate.

I contacted the Libertarian National Committee members asking them to vote for Nicholas Sarwark to serve on the National Committee. Although I may not agree with him on every issue, I think that he has the interest, knowledge, experience and energy to help revitalize the Libertarian Party.

@Carol… can you provide a source for your “licensing” claim.

If Sarwark gets on, will Bill Weld be next?

Three awful candidates. NOTA is the obvious choice.

While Sarwark is divisive and has his personality and ideological flaws, his chairmanship was by all metrics on paper, a peak for the party. To those who dislike him, remember that he won’t be the chair anymore, he will be there to offer advice, vote, and deliver results. He’s only doing this because he wants to help right the ship and we should let him because clearly things aren’t working right now. I think we have nothing left to lose and everything from 2016 to gain.

Nick Sarwark recently declared that he thinks governments should license businesses so that if politicians THINK the business is bigoted (whatever that means) or I guess dangerous or whatever – they can PREVENT the business from having the public access it. I guess just members? Or no one at all. NOT LIBERTARIAN
First video, Sarwark instructs Evan McMahon to take photos of everyone who votes agains the bigotry language in the LP Platform. Then Sarwark “accidentally” bumps into a Mises person, yells he was attacked.(“Full Nick Sarwark theatrics. “ Video)

Nick Sarwark was very divisive in three years as Chair and helped grow the Mises Caucus with his antagonistic screaming of bigotry. He gave rise to a whole bunch of infiltrators yelling bigoted stuff just for fun. Find non divisive people for LNC.
