The Libertarian National Committee voted Wednesday to censure Region 1 Alternate Austin Martin over recent online remarks that some members deemed threatening, inflammatory, and inconsistent with Libertarian Party principles surrounding the initiation of force.
At an October 1 special meeting, the LNC voted 8–2 in favor of censure, with two abstentions and five members not participating. The motion was introduced by At-large Representative Sam Bohler, who cited a series of social media posts and exchanges in September involving Martin. It required only a majority of those present to pass.
The comments in question included calls to remove “socialist infiltrators” from the Libertarian Party “by force and with extreme prejudice,” along with claims that Martin “initially cosigned or affirmed” a thread suggesting that killing communists could be morally justified. Bohler’s motion asserted the behavior violated the LNC Policy Manual and the Libertarian Party’s Statement of Principles. It further described it as intimidating, hostile, and damaging to the board’s working environment, posing possible legal, reputational, and organizational risks.
Though Martin later attempted to qualify his remarks, Bohler’s motion argued the pattern of endorsement and his partial walkback failed to amount to a meaningful retraction. The motion stated that the sequence “materially undercuts any plausible retraction, and bolsters the inference that Mr. Martin is treating lethal violence as a morally defensible argument in some political circumstances.”
Following the vote, Martin responded on X rejecting the censure and doubling down on his earlier rhetoric. He called the vote “the highest award” the LNC could offer him and pledged to continue his efforts to remove socialism and “subversive leftist ideologies” from the Libertarian Party. He also echoed Argentine President Javier Milei’s warning not to “give them an inch,” and alluded the meeting itself might become relevant in the event of future harm.
“If something tragic or terrible happens to me, maybe watch the LNC meeting from today,” Martin continued. “Exposing corruption can be dangerous work, but also so rewarding! Too bad it doesn’t offer hazard pay…”
The vote to censure Martin is the second such action taken by the LNC this year, following its September 19 vote to censure the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire over its social media conduct. An earlier motion to censure Martin failed. The committee has also considered motions against LNC Chair Steven Nekhaila and both the New Hampshire and Colorado state parties together.

I would like to quote South Region 3 Alternate Jessi Cowart’s statement as said at the meeting to clarify why this censure was needed:
“Aside from the statements that have been made by Mr. Martin, take them as you will, there is a level of professionalism that is missing from this board. I’ve watched Mr. Martin as Mr. Bohler laid out his motion, and he is absolutely grinning and ruffling in this. He has no intention of being a productive and professional member of this board. He is here to sow chaos and dissention. He doesn’t even believe the words that are coming out of his mouth. He doesn’t believe we’re socialists. He doesn’t believe we are communists. He’s just here to raise Hell, and that end upon itself as well as his public posts on social media, publicly criticizing the LNC, which is a violation of our policy. For all of the reasons that Mr. Bohler mentioned and more, it’s absolutely appropriate to censure Mr. Martin because he is a man-child and has no place on this board.”
He also echoed Argentine President Javier Milei’s warning not to “give them an inch,”
Does that mean he is going to seek a bailout from the US Government?

Is another motion to censure Steven Nekhaila coming?
As long as there aren’t two-thirds of the vote to remove a member, these censures are meaningless.
