The Communist Party USA has announced that Part I of its 2026 National Marxist School will take place this upcoming January. The school is an annual education program organized by the party’s Education Commission along with the Working-Class Project.
Details in a December 23 email state that Part I of the National Marxist School will begin on January 10, with additional sessions taking place on January 13, 15, and 17. The program is free to attend, though advance registration is required, with additional details on how to access classes to be later shared with registrants. The party has not yet released information regarding the sessions or dates of the second part.
The National Marxist School has been offered for several years as a multi-day, and in some years multi-week, series of online classes designed to introduce participants to Marxist theory and topics central to working-class outlooks. The program is conducted in conjunction with the Working-Class Project, an outreach initiative focused on organizing mass movements, developing art and culture, and promoting education related to working-class theory. That group is organized through the People Before Profits Education Fund.
Agenda materials included by the party show the 2026 sessions will cover a range of subjects, including the foundations of Marxist philosophy and political economy, the CPUSA’s Party Program, establishing peace movements, and what organizers describe as issues and movements decisive in the fight against fascism. Additional topics include class struggle, environmental issues, and what the party refers to as the “science of struggle.”
Organizers have also released a recommended reading list for participants, specifying that the materials are not required to attend the classes. The list includes works by Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin, along with more contemporary texts such as John Eaton’s Political Economy and Scott Hiley’s Dialectics. Participants are also encouraged to review the CPUSA’s Party Program and selected reports produced by the party’s Women’s and Political Action Commissions.
Some materials have been made available directly by the party, while others are offered at a discount through select vendors. A complete list of recommended readings is available through the program’s agenda.
