Colorado Forward Party Announces Virtual 2026 Nominating Assembly

The Colorado Forward Party will hold its 2026 Nominating Assembly in April, where members will make candidate nominations for later this cycle, hear from national leadership, and conduct other items of party business.

In a call to convention issued this week, the party announced that the assembly will take place virtually on April 11. Specific participation details will be provided to members who register in advance. To be eligible to vote during the assembly, participants must be in good standing, sign the party’s affiliate pledge, be registered as Forward Party voters with the Colorado Secretary of State, and complete the party’s registration process.

“The Colorado Forward Party aspires to be a political party whose membership embraces the principles and values of civic virtue (concern for the common good), political civility, pragmatic compromise, data-driven discourse, and accountable execution,” the convention notice reads. “We want to help independent-minded voters identify and support smart, honest candidates and elected officials who are dedicated to our principles and values.”

The party has released a tentative convention agenda. According to the document, the assembly will feature remarks from guest speakers, including an unannounced member of the national Forward Party board of directors and state Rep. Bob Marshall, a Forward-affiliated Democrat who represents Colorado House District 43.

A significant portion of the assembly will be devoted to hearing from individuals seeking the party’s nomination, as well as providing members with information on how to run for office under the Forward Party label. While the party has not yet shared which candidates or offices will be considered during the assembly, it has already issued at least one general election endorsement ahead of the event.

On its website, the Colorado Forward Party announced that both its state-level and the national Forward Party’s candidate committees have vetted and endorsed Christina Schultz, who is running for Mesa County Treasurer. Schultz is campaigning on a platform centered on the accurate reporting, protection, and growth of county funds, presenting herself as a break from partisanship. She is running openly as a Forward Party candidate.

In addition to hearing speeches and considering endorsements, members will also vote on proposed amendments to the state party’s bylaws. Leadership elections are not expected to take place during the assembly.
