Bryce Thon Named Second Region 1 Alternate to Libertarian National Committee

Bryce Thon, a member of the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin, has been selected as the second Region 1 alternate to the Libertarian National Committee following a vote of state affiliate chairs within the region.

Thon’s selection was announced on the LNC’s public Business List at the end of February, with first Region 1 alternate Austin Martin congratulating him on winning the seat. Thon is a member of the Wisconsin party’s Executive Committee, where he represents the state’s third congressional district. He also serves on the national party’s Bylaws Committee and has identified himself as a state organizer for the Mises Caucus.

He fills the vacancy created last year by former Region 1 alternate James Wiley, who left both the LNC and the Libertarian Party to seek the Republican nomination for Colorado Secretary of State. The region is the largest represented on the LNC, consisting of 15 state party affiliates, with Thon serving in the second of its two alternate roles through the party’s upcoming national convention in May.

Independent Political Report was previously informed that four candidates sought the position in the weeks leading up to the vote. In addition to Thon, the candidates included Aaron Thoman of Hawaii, Tim Kranz of Wisconsin, and former LNC Chair Nicholas Sarwark of Colorado.

All four candidates participated in an earlier interview meeting with regional state chairs and Region 1’s current national representation prior to the vote. They were given the opportunity to present their qualifications and strategic priorities for the party and respond to questions from the audience on various topics. Voting was conducted by email following the meeting over a three-day period.

During the interview, Thon said he intends to run for a full seat on the LNC at the party’s upcoming convention and viewed the alternate position as an opportunity to build relationships with party leadership in the coming months. When asked about his views on the role of the national party, he said he believed it should help set the tone for messaging across state organizations. Thon also stated that he would seek to make himself available to assist state affiliates within the region where possible, which he put forward as a priority.

I have been a Libertarian Party member since 1996 and I have never heard of this person.
