The Forward Party has brought on political consultant and former independent vice presidential candidate Mindy Finn to serve as its new vice president of advancement, where she will oversee fundraising and development strategy for the party.
In a statement released Monday, the party said Finn will manage donor engagement and fundraising operations while working with party leaders and candidates across the organization.
Finn previously ran as the vice presidential running mate of Evan McMullin during the 2016 presidential election. The pair ran as an independent ticket, though Finn did not appear on the ballot in every state where McMullin qualified because the campaign entered the race after several filing deadlines had passed.
Earlier in her career, Finn worked as a strategist for the Republican presidential campaigns of George W. Bush and Mitt Romney. Following the 2016 race, she co-founded Stand Up Republic with McMullin and founded the political data platform Citizen Data.
In the announcement, Forward Party CEO Lindsey Drath said Finn brings experience in coalition-building and political organizing. She also praised Finn for demonstrating an interest in strengthening democratic institutions and working outside partisan circles.
“Mindy understands what millions of Americans already feel: our political system isn’t giving voters the leadership and choices they deserve,” Drath said. “She has spent her career building coalitions, strengthening democratic institutions, and creating new pathways for independent leadership.”
Finn herself added that she believes the Forward Party offers an alternative for voters frustrated with the predominant political parties, saying many feel stuck “between two parties that reward division more than progress.”
