Jo Jorgensen’s exploratory campaign has started recruiting supporters to solicit donations and develop a grassroots draft movement around a possible 2028 bid for the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination.
In a July 17 email forwarded to Independent Political Report, Jorgensen’s exploratory campaign asked early supporters to approach people in their personal networks and encourage them to join calls for Jorgensen to run, as well as help raise money for a possible campaign. The appeal was sent by Jake Porter, a member of the Libertarian Party of Arkansas and newly elected member of the Libertarian National Committee’s Audit Committee who is serving as campaign manager during the exploratory phase.
Porter said the early effort seeks to build sufficient support for a potential candidacy while creating the “financial foundation” needed to run. He also praised “word-of-mouth” as the organization’s most effective tool at this stage, calling a recommendation from a trusted friend more meaningful than traditional political advertising.
“Real change doesn’t come from the top down,” the email reads. “It starts with genuine conversations between friends.”
Jorgensen first announced the formation of an exploratory committee in a May 27 statement, saying she had spent several months considering another presidential run. She said she opted to first pursue the committee route to better listen to supporters, evaluate the path ahead, and begin constructing the organization necessary for a possible campaign before formally entering the field.
Jorgensen was previously the Libertarian Party’s presidential nominee in 2020, winning the nomination on the fourth round of voting. She appeared on the ballot in all 50 states and the District of Columbia with vice presidential nominee Spike Cohen and received more than 1.8 million votes nationally. She was also the party’s 1996 vice presidential nominee alongside Harry Browne and its 1992 nominee for South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District.
The exploratory campaign said it would be contacting current volunteers and donors with additional details in the near future.

It is written in the article that Jake Porter is a member of the Libertarian Party of Iowa, but that is no longer true. He is a member of the Libertarian Party of Arkansas since 2022. He also Chairs the Communications Committee for LPAR.

BS? Puhleeze. Government HAS been systematically racist for many decades. From Jim Crow laws to school segregation keeping blacks in inferior schools to laws making mixed-race marriages illegal (until 1967!!) to local zoning decisions to keep blacks from buying in white neighborhoods, to local governments destroying entire black neighborhoods in the name of “Urban Renewal”, making blacks sit in the back of public buses… is that enough for you or is that all BS to you? No, Scooter, but being for Burn, Loot, and Mayhem and “anti-racist” is just as collectivist as racism itself. If you were paying attention then, and you clearly weren’t, you would know that. Calling for anti-racism is being statist. The correct approach from a libertarian perspective is the individualist approach of non-racism, which is a different thing. Also, the whole premise of anti-racism claims systemic racism in government, a liberal dog-whistle that’s pretty much B.S. (a few moron cops here and there isn’t systemic).

People who don’t know what year a presidential campaign took place may not have the most reliable information regarding what happened in a past campaign or have the best advice regarding future campaigns.
If Jorgensen runs again, hopefully she will learn the lessons of her mistakes in 2016 with the anti-racist and embrace BLM/Antifa nonsense…
