The United States Pirate Party has selected Captain Jolly Mitch Davilo and Young Pirates USA co-captain Lily Boyt to represent the organization on the governing council of All Hands for a Free Future, its coalition with the United States Transhumanist Party.
Davilo and Boyt were selected during the Pirate National Committee’s most recent meeting after no members objected to either appointment. The national Pirate Party had invited members over Discord interested in serving on the council to apply beforehand, saying applicants would first go through its new Vetting Committee before representatives were selected.
“Our coalition is meant, by design, to grow and include more minor parties,” the application form read. “This Coalition Council will comprise of two reps from each member party, and thus it will start with two members of the USPP and two members of the USTP on the council.”
All Hands for a Free Future was first announced in July 2025 and formally established that September as a partnership between the Pirate and Transhumanist parties focused on electoral cooperation and cross-endorsements. Since then, the two organizations have jointly backed several candidates, including more recently Green Party Wisconsin secretary of state candidate Pete Karas and independent Arizona legislative candidate Blase Henry, though the latter has since transitioned to a write-in campaign.
At the time of its founding, the two parties also left the door open to inviting other organizations to join the coalition at a future date. While no other parties have joined since then, Davilo said during the most recent meeting that he would ideally like to see the Legal Marijuana NOW Party become its third member; however, there has been no public indication that the party has been approached for that reason.
The council appointments follow several weeks of discussion within national Pirate leadership over the coalition and the party’s future within it. The topic first arose during an August 30 PNC meeting, when members raised concerns about the democratic structure of the Transhumanist Party and began considering whether to withdraw from the effort. Potential withdrawal appeared on the agenda again at the September 13 meeting, though members ultimately tabled the discussion until the following week.
Members took up the topic again September 20, raising concerns about communication between the two parties, including a failure on both ends to form a Coalition Council and other matters of endorsement coordination. Following a discussion that included Transhumanist Party Chair Gennady Stolyarov II, who addressed some of the questions surrounding the organization and how it operates, the committee voted 3-0, with three abstentions, to move forward with forming the council.
The Pirate National Committee agreed to revisit the partnership once more at its October 25 meeting. The Transhumanist Party, meanwhile, has not yet publicly announced who it will send as its representatives to the council.
