Bob Bird, a longtime conservative activist from Alaska, recently entered the US Senate race against incumbent Ted Stevens. As of yet, no other alternative parties have entered the race. Bob Bird is running as the candidate of the Alaskan Independence Party and has the backing of the local Ron Paul Meetups.
Bird organized and led the Alaska Rescue Project, the non-violent civil disobedience campaign at abortion clinics, in 1989. Running against Ted Stevens in the 1990 Republican Party, he amassed 34,000 votes. He served as president of Alaska Right to Life from 1995-97, was a delegate to the 1996 Republican Convention in San Diego as a Buchanan supporter, the 2000 Reform Party convention in the same capacity, and the 2004 Constitution Party convention.
Bob has already incurred a series of media mentions in Alaska. His site, recently published, is located here.

If yins just want to let the trolls run wild, feel free. I’ll leave.
I am of the opinion that IPR has had its RDA of conspiracy suggestions though, as always, chacun à son goût.
It seems we both wound up commenting on the wrong post somehow.
“The Senator was in town for an event for the Florida GOP and had a lunch fundraiser scheduled in the hotel that had the LNC meeting”.
Coincidence?
Or…. super-secret LNC conspiracy to hand the nomination to Rand Paul?!?!
😉
Wes, your self-righteousness knows no limits. Ms Harlos has recorded a pretty fair assessment of how illegitimate both factions are.
While I agree with her assessment, I’d add one thing: Both factions deserve each other. Both of you are playing in traffic. I am 100% in favor of you guys taking that to its logical conclusion, so that the rest of us don’t have to deal with you.
If there is anything about recognizing Oregonian delegates at the national convention, I will propose a substitute motion to not recognize either faction.
The only thing the Party will get from paying extortionists, is more extortionists. To hell with the ballot access. The only solution is to bite the bullet, walk away from the playground, and build a new playground — and make the previous actors absolutely ineligible to participate.
Knapp, your logic fails you.
“Pro-Life, Pro-Peace, Pro-Alaska, Pro-Constitution and Pro-Gun” is a pretty good slogan if you ask me.
I hope his campaign takes off and that the meetups promote the crap out of him. Also, given his Buchanan connections, he might get a mention or two in The American Conservative.
