Wisconsin’s La Crosse Tribune profiles the September 9 primary between Libertarians Kevin Barrett and Ben Olson III in the state’s Third U.S. House District. The newspaper says Barrett “is a former university lecturer best known for his conspiracy theories on the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and has some very un-Libertarian ideas about health care and entitlement programs,” while Olson “is a self-employed home builder, sawyer, musician and part-time bartender with prominent Republican roots who presents himself as the orthodox Libertarian choice.” The Tribune says neither the state Libertarian Party “nor the state is sure when two Libertarian candidates last met in a primary.”

In 1998, there was a LPWI primary for state assembly. (Milwaukee area)
Dave Howard was going to run, but as a publicity stunt, he got his friend Bob Pritzel to run against him in the primary.
Pritzel and his wife both voted for Howard, while Howard also voted for Howard.
However, the vote ended up a 6 to 6 tie! Only 9 other people voted in the primary, 3 for Howard and 6 for Pritzel.
So a coin flip was held by the state.
Pritzel won!
