You won’t hear or see it in the mainstream media, but just check out the comments on many mainstream news websites. What are people saying? “There ain’t a dime’s bit of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats.” People everywhere are starting to figure out that no matter what party takes control of the White House, Congress, and the Senate, we still get the same old taxing, spending, regulating, and economy-ruining gang in charge.
The Democrats elected Mr. Obama on a vague promise of change – but where’s the change? If anything, he’s George W. Bush on steroids. Look at his foreign policy: our troops are more committed than ever to global interests. Foxnews.com reported on Feb 27, “Secretary of State Clinton said the U.S. was ‘reaching out to many different Libyans who are attempting to organize in the east and as the revolution moves westward there as well.’ Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Washington should recognize and arm a provisional government in rebel-held areas of eastern Libya and impose a no-fly zone over the area – enforced by U.S. warplanes – to stop attacks by the regime.”
What happened to Mr. Obama’s promises to get us out of wars? It wouldn’t surprise me to see American troops yet again placed under the command of the United Nations to “restore peace and stability” by eliminating the ruling “global terrorists” in Libya.
The anti-war Democrats are in a rage over this latest Republican-sounding war cry from the White House. Mrs. Clinton undoubtedly gets her marching orders directly from the President. And let’s not forget the Republicans. Most of the newly elected Tea Party-backed Republicans supported an extension to the Patriot Act. Where is the outrage from Tea Party supporters against this unconstitutional act that violates our 1st and 4th Amendment rights?
The solutions to the problems in America’s government are rooted in what George Washington called a patriotism grounded in religion and morality and an adherence to the greatest document for self-government ever written – the United States Constitution. More people see it, understand it, and are hungry for a return to constitutional government than ever before.
You are on the forefront of this revival as a member and supporter of the Constitution Party of Georgia. in the comment above. He was a great Congressman and a true gentleman. I worked
in his campaign when he was the nominee for President of the (real) American Independent Party in 1980. Of all the candidates of nominated, by any national incarnation of AIP, including the Constitution Party, I think John Rarick probably most closely reflected the platform of the California party. If he had run
in 1972, rather than the arrogant John Schmitz with his nose in the air “country club” attitude, the party would have kept many more of the Wallace voters (who Schmitz condemned as being too “blue collar” and “grass rootsy”) and received a much larger popular vote than the one million votes received by Schmitz.
Unfortunately that was the one year that he did NOT present himself as a candidate for the party’s nomination nomination.
I was happy that in his last years John Rarick was a contributor to the Constitution Party.
By the way, Dr. Monteith, himself, was a local AIP candidate for office in the early 70’s.
