Democrats took a pass on District 22, leaving Republican incumbent Lynn Stewart to face challenges from Libertarian Nathan Santucci and Independent American Joshua M. Starbuck. Mr. Stewart, a retired high school government teacher, has lived in Southern Nevada for about 60 years and recognizes that money alone can’t fix what ails public schools. Mr. Santucci wants to maintain an attractive business climate in Nevada. He’s “tired of seeing casinos taking a hit for making money” and being targeted for tax increases. We think Mr. Santucci is more inclined to shake things up in Carson City. If a minor-party candidate is ever going to break into the Legislature, we hope it’s Nathan Santucci in District 22.
It is notable that they did not endorse one IAP candidate.

I like a lot of what Vin has written in the past. He’s dead wrong about immigration. The beacon on the hill become a target of opportunity if it is surrounded by barbed wire.

You’d have to ask Vin what he does for a living. I think he gets in the meetings where they talk about this stuff. Did last time I asked him, but that was the last time we met in person, and that was in 1991, I think.
The article you cite for “libertarianism is suspect” seems, to me, to include some very sardonic humor at the end. Is satire really a lost art?

Paulie, the LV RJ has endorsed LP candidates in the past, although I cannot name them off the top of my head. The paper leans hard into the economics side of libertarianism, yet also has been a strong advocate for the social side of liberty’s coin too. I don’t recall them actually coming out for complete repeal of all drug laws, but they have often pointed out the down-sides of the War of Drugs. They do not rave with xenophobia about Mexican immigrants, understanding that they are a valuable segment of the Las Vegas Community, and believing that people have a Natural Right to be free. They don’t support the asinine anti-gay initiatives. all in all, it’s a decent newspaper.

They don’t play stupid partisan games when reporting ethics problems of our elected officials. The recently went after Porter, Properly. He’s a Republican slug, who needs to get salted. The one Democratic house member from Nevada, Berkley, is another one who should get ousted, but I doubt that either will. She’s my rep, and the only race where I’ll be voting for an LP candidate, Raymond James Duensing Jr., this election (my only other LP candidate offered is Barr, and I’m voting none of the above for President this year). Our third and final House member is Heller, a Republican, just finishing out his third term, who previously was our Secretary of State, and proved himself to be more than just a party boi in that office. I disagree with some of his positions, but respect him as an individual.
Suprynowicz’s libertarianism is suspect. I do not know if he presently sits on the RJ’s eitorial board, but believe that he has in the past.

The Las Vegas Review Journal tends to have a fairly libertarian perspective politically. They also have editors who are not libertarian minded, and give them latitude in their op/eds.
