Unity Party of Colorado Nominates Cornel West and Melina Abdullah as 2024 Presidential Ticket

The Unity Party of Colorado met in Lafayette over the weekend, nominating several candidates for local, state, and federal office. Party delegates overwhelmingly supported independent Dr. Cornel West as their presidential nominee.

According to information shared by party members in the Unity Party of Colorado Open Discussion Facebook group, convention delegates nominated a 2024 presidential ticket, candidates for six of Colorado’s congressional districts, and several legislative candidates. It’s worth noting that the Colorado affiliate currently does not have an updated website and relies on social media like the Facebook group to share information.

Delegates selected independent Dr. Cornel West over Paul Noel Fiorino by a margin of 95% to 5% to be the party’s presidential nominee. Additionally, they chose Dr. Melina Abdullah, who West recently announced as his vice presidential choice, to similarly represent the party.

While the Unity Party of America, associated with Bill Hammons, nominated Paul Fiorino the weekend before, it’s important to note that a dispute exists between Hammons and the Colorado affiliate. Moreover, the Unity Party of Colorado that nominated West is the sole affiliate with ballot access. In addition to a presidential ticket, delegates also nominated candidates for down-ballot positions. Congressional candidates include Critter Milton for the first district, Cynthia Munhos de Aquino Sirianni for the second district, Adam Withrow for the third district, Paul Noel Fiorino for the fourth district, Ron Tupa for the seventh district, and Susan Hall for the eighth district.

The convention also nominated Meredith Ryan and Gary Swing for state senate, Jesse Parris for the state legislature, and Eric Bodenstab for Jefferson County Commissioner.
