The American Solidarity Party has set a joint start date for its 2027 regular national convention and its 2028 presidential and platform convention, announcing that the two will convene together next summer.
In an email to Independent Political Report, the party said the Solidarity National Committee met July 13 and decided to formally convene both conventions on June 18, 2027. Delegates to both gatherings will be selected through a single election process, the details of which the party will announce at a later date.
National convention delegates typically elect members of the Solidarity National Committee to two-year terms and address other regular items of party business, including bylaws changes and the adoption of resolutions. For conventions coinciding with a presidential election cycle, delegates also choose the national ticket and consider more substantial changes to the party’s national platform.
The American Solidarity Party followed a similar timeline during the 2024 election cycle, with the party selecting Peter Sonski for president and Lauren Onak for vice president through a two-part process in 2023. Sonski first won the presidential nomination through an online membership vote that June, while Onak, whom he had previously selected as his running mate, was formally nominated at the party’s first in-person national convention in Plano, Texas. That convention was held June 30 through July 2 of the same year.
The ticket appeared on the ballot in seven states and received reported write-in votes in almost two dozen others, ultimately capturing 44,000 votes nationwide.
The party said it also anticipates holding an in-person convention component beginning the following weekend on June 25, as well as a presidential candidate debate at some point during the entire gathering. However, the National Committee has not yet selected a location or determined the details of the debate.
