The Green National Committee is weighing whether to appoint Young Ecosocialist Caucus member Henry Pratt to the Green Party of the United States’ Finance Committee. If approved, Pratt would be the second individual named to the committee this year.
The Young Ecosocialist Caucus put the proposal forward this week, with discussion running through August 30. Voting would then begin the next day and run through September 6. Pratt would need support from two-thirds of those casting yes or no votes for approval, provided that quorum is met.
Pratt is a member of the Green Party of New York and co-chair of the party’s Bylaws, Rules, Policies, and Procedures Committee. According to a biography included with his nomination, he says he has experience managing campaign budgets exceeding $200,000—notably similar in size to the budget approved by the Green National Committee earlier this year—and negotiating with campaign vendors. He also notes that he has a background working with payroll and nonprofit compliance and currently serves on the board of a 501(c)(3) environmental nonprofit, where he assists with grants.
Under party rules, the GPUS Finance Committee is responsible for monitoring and overseeing party finances while otherwise advising the Steering Committee on fiscal matters. Its work includes preparing the party’s draft annual budget and recommending later revisions, coordinating with staff and party leadership, and helping ensure the national party complies with its fiscal policy.
Finance Committee membership consists of the party’s financial leadership, participating Steering Committee members, and members nominated by state affiliates or accredited caucuses and approved by the National Committee. Relevant staff also serve on the committee in non-voting roles, including fundraiser Rose Roby and office manager Athena Alma.
If approved, Pratt would serve a three-year term and become the second person appointed to the Finance Committee this year. National Committee members previously named Darryl! Moch of the D.C. Statehood Green Party to the committee in May by a 49–6 vote with two abstentions.
Cassiday Moriarity, another Young Ecosocialist Caucus nominee, was appointed to the Finance Committee before Moch in October 2025. She was more recently elected Green Party treasurer last month to a two-year term, also becoming one of the committee’s two co-chairs under the party’s fiscal policy.
