NV Assembly: John Moore in 3rd place, 6.8% for reelection; Dennis Hof 39.2% in two-way race

Data via http://silverstateelection.com/NVAssembly/:

John Moore, the first of four state legislators around the country to switch to the Libertarian Party last year, got 6.8% (3rd place) in his bid to win reelection as a Libertarian. Moore was recently censured by both the Nevada and national Libertarian Party organizations for his votes in favor of government funding for a stadium in Las Vegas and enabling legislation to allow Clark County commissioners to raise taxes for the purpose of funding police.

Meanwhile, legal brothel owner and TV star Dennis Hof received 39.2% in a two-way race as a Libertarian against Republican incumbent James Oscarson in Assembly District 36, which spans Clark, Nye and Lincoln counties.

In other Nevada News, according to politico, adult marijuana recreational possession up to one ounce also passed, as did 7 of 9 other states’ initiative for recreational or medical marijuana. In less positive news from a Libertarian perspective, Nevada voters also voted in favor of expanded gun background checks.

In West Virginia, it appears the Libertarian candidate for State Agriculture Commissioner is going to break 10% in a three-way race against a Republican and a Democrat.

Those are independents according to their respective SoS sites, and therefore not official LP candidates.

Looks like Trumbull carried two counties in Eastern Washington and Hoskins won two counties in the Atlanta area.

The point of the censure was about him not adhering to Libertarian principles, which was especially bad since Moore had taken 10’s of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Libertarians, and then he stabbed those donors in the back. Him being censured by the LP of NV and the LNC sent the message that Libertarians do not approve of his actions.

Any chance the Nevada NSGOP might take him back?

What would they do with him?

For non-fusion LP candidates, Hof leads the nation in percentage for a legislative race at 39.24%.

Next highest for percentage for a legislative race at 31.09% is Michael Seebeck in Colorado House 21. He spent $0.

For non-legislative seats, Eric Hoskins, Georgia, Public Service Commission 2-E, is at 33.36%, followed by Joshua Trumbull, Washington, Attorney General, at 31.29% (in a top-two state!).

Quite a few legislative races across the country were in the 20-30% range as well.

Moore’s election in 2014 was a fluke. He would have lost as a Libertarian or as a Republican. The censure of him literally made no difference, and anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

I know somebody who talked to John Moore about a week ago, and he said that Moore referred to himself as an ex-Libertarian, so hopefully this means that he quit the party. Good riddance to him.

Mr. Moore sacrificed values for votes and he didn’t votes.

There’s a typo in this item. Dennis Hof is not a “brother owner.”
