Christine Smith lacks sufficient support

After tonight’s “unofficial” debate, Christine Smith acknowledged to a small group of libertarians that she would likely not have sufficient tokens to participate in the official debate Saturday night. She also suggested that she would probably not have enough to earn nominating-speech time. However, she still seemed to think she could win the nomination.

When asked about her support for Shane Corey’s press release, Ms. Smith said, “I have no respect for Shane Corey.” She said that she had called for his removal long before the Ruwart smear. However, she says she supported the press release because she was getting many calls and letters, asking if libertarians stood for legalizing child porn.

“I am not an anarchist,” Ms. Smith said. “You can be an anarchist and a libertarian, but you don’t have to be an anarchist to be a libertarian.”

Smith also said that the FBI and CIA should be abolished.

Christiana – From what I understand, the bus did not attract sufficient interest of people willing to pay $55 for the trip, and thus, was scrapped.

Georgia did have a full delegation and seated plenty of people other delegations — but there was nothing against the rules as far as that went.

Do you know if the bus of supporters has arrived in Denver yet?

Tom may have said it as well. I was referencing an old Steve Gordon post on TPW —

    His fourth point…

“4) Downright “legal” bribery, for either personal or party reasons. I expect that I will receive more free drink offers, party invitations, and such from candidates if they know I am an uncommitted delegate. Also, certain political deals are always available, such as ballot access assistance or a commitment from a candidate to speak three times in my state should he or she win the nomination. I might even be able to convince a candidate to modify a platform position in exchange for my support.”

I don’t know how she thinks she can win the nomination if she can’t get enough tokens to be in the debate or even have a nominating speech.

Christine Smith is delusional. There is no way on earth she will even come close to getting the nomination.

Austin, it was Tom Knapp who made that suggestion, but I don’t think free stuff was the reason behind it, LOL. He was telling people to hold onto their tokens to ensure an opportunity for all of the candidates, not just one.

I will be interested to see if there is a credentials fight over the people being bused in only to support one candidate. I suspect there will be, and I suspect it will be nasty.

    errrr…. Hmmm….. No comment.

I remember reading Steve Gordon’s (at least I think it was Steve) advice to delegates to hold onto their tickets until the last possible minute to squeeze the most free stuff and influence out of the process as possible.

A lot. It’s very frustrating. None want to give their tokens to a candidate who doesn’t need them. But they all need them.

Any indication on how many delegates are holding onto their tokens until the last minute?

One for president and one for VP. You have to get 30 in order to have 16 minutes to have nomination speeches. You have to get as many as 86 (though everyone is confused on this matter) to participate in the debate.
