@#158 – Steven, we plan to write a report for sure – along with some suggestions that will maybe make these live casts even better in the future. Thanks to Mike Seebeck for this report from San Diego which helped us to get set up.
It is incomplete because of internet connection with the hotel’s wireless network, but there are 6 or so hours of video available out of the total of about 8.
I created the site and am working on building up not just the site, but a libertarian-oriented voice against the California state budget that will be active on the streets. It’s the largest effort I have undertaken, but will be well worth it for the liberty of Californians.
I wonder what some of the deadwood types on the LNC are going to do when we in the party pass them by.

Not a knock on him, far from it. It’s just sad that he had to make the presentation that he did because we clearly are NOT doing the basics, by and large.

@143
I agree the LP needs to be more activist. The shame is that Jingo was covering the BASICS of what we should already be doing.
@#68 – 16:44 Gene Trosper : Not loving Jingo’s presentation thus far. emails, blogs and talk radio?
16:44 Lidia Seebeck : I have to agree
16:45 dawgbreath : yeah, most activists already do all those things
16:45 Gene Trosper : These are recycled ideas. I’m waiting for something more substantial.
16:45 Lidia Seebeck : me too
16:45 Lidia Seebeck : his rookie status is showing
16:45 dawgbreath : that’s my thought
16:45 dawgbreath : he means well
16:46 Lidia Seebeck : he DOES and that IS important
16:46 Gene Trosper : But wwe all know the saying about good intentions…
16:46 Lidia Seebeck : sigh
In Jingozian’s defense, you have to remember that he was not speaking to “activists”, and I think that his presentation to the LNC was about what the LP should be doing – not just the activists. The gist of it from my POV was that the LP needs to become more activist!
Now that I’m home and finished with the live cast, I can go back and read Paulie’s running commentary and find out what happened at LNC. Thanks Paulie for that.
Logging on briefly, I am not online much right now.
Exec comm was last thing except for acouple of minor resolutions which were not worth setting back up for, plus the camera guys left.
Rachel’s resolution was to allow the high-resolution LP logos to be made available to people to make their own open source lit.
However, LNC members were concerned about people misrepresenting LP views under the LP name/logo.
Which of course is still possible, since there is no way they can know who all makes their own LP lit or sue all of them; the only difference being that they use low-res logos instead of high res.
This and much else covered in comments above.
We are hoping for recorded video in the next few days.
As I said I will be mostly offline, so just call me. Phone is not charged now. But it should be in my missed calls and I’ll try to charge it before to long.

I had real work to do this a.m. Am I to understand that Rachel made some sort of resolution to work on improving the literature package only to have it voted down?
If so can someone fill in on the details?

are we still on exec. meeting cuz there is no video?
1:15 Gene Trosper : *round of applause*
11:17 Steve Linnabary : Paulie, will you be broadcasting any of the LSLA?
11:17 Paulie : No, it was up against this
11:18 Paulie : We need to beak this down now
11:18 Paulie : Break and then exec session
11:18 Gene Trosper : Then that’s the end of the meeting, I assume?
11:18 Steve Linnabary : see ya
11:19 Gene Trosper : Well, I have some other things to accomplish today. Still working on californiaRevolution.com
11:19 Gene Trosper : Bye. Time to get back to the real world
11:19 Paulie : My understand is this is the end of open session. either way we would not have time to set back up. Thanks folks and see you all later
11:14 Steve Linnabary : it worked well for the states, they could get speakers for free
11:15 Gene Trosper : *round of applause*
11:17 Steve Linnabary : Paulie, will you be broadcasting any of the LSLA?
11:17 Paulie : No, it was up against this
11:18 Paulie : We need to beak this down now
11:18 Paulie : Break and then exec session
11:13 Gene Trosper : I think it makes good sense to combine, especially on a financial basis.
11:14 Steve Linnabary : it worked well for the states, they could get speakers for free
11:15 Gene Trosper : *round of applause*
1:08 Steve Linnabary : no audio
11:09 Paulie : They are now discussing having Dec 12-13
11:10 Steve Linnabary : now have audio, video is still froze
11:11 Steve Linnabary : thats better
11:11 Gene Trosper : I prefer the combining of meetings.
11:12 Steve Linnabary : LNC used to combine w/ a state convention
0:57 Mike Seebeck : Here you go, Gene.
10:59 Mike Seebeck : July 18, St. Louis
10:59 Paulie : I think StL is not firmed up
11:00 Paulie : They were arguing about it and I did not hear a vote
11:00 Mike Seebeck : true
11:00 Gene Trosper : My bday is Nov. 16, so that would make an interesting bday trip
11:03 Gene Trosper : They should do what is financially prudent.
0:50 Mike Seebeck : Yeah, but there’s a bill out here to make initiative circulators register as lobbyists. AB6. It’s just stupid and absurd.
10:52 Paulie : No on OH , More like TX, NM on Greyhound bus if I go to Arizona, or Alabama straight to Florida
10:53 Steve Linnabary : I wuz gonna’ offer crash space & a beer
10:53 Paulie : Thanks Steve…I’ll try to do that when I’m up that way
10:42 Paulie : There is an agenda posted at IPR and lined in the discussion thread. It has been changed around a lot though.
10:42 dawgbreath changed their nickname to Steve Linnabary.
10:43 Mike Seebeck : I might have missed it then.
10:44 Paulie : https://independentpoliticalreport.com/2009/02/schedule-for-libertarian-state-leadership-alliance-and-libertarian-national-committee-meetings-in-charleston-s
10:44 Paulie : URL is too long to post apparently
10:44 Paulie : It is linked in the discussion thread near the top
10:45 Gene Trosper : Paulie: is your road trip going to bring you out to California?
10:45 Paulie : Probably Arizona
10:45 Paulie : But Florida is still possible – less likely
10:46 Paulie : Even less likely, if I could get Alabama started
10:46 Gene Trosper : I assume Phoenix?
10:46 Paulie : Phoenix or Tucson to start, maybe Flagstaff later
10:47 Gene Trosper : There may be some job opportunities in california if the anti-tan rebellion really gets going out here. Lots of talk about recall petitions and so forth
10:47 Gene Trosper : tan=tax
10:47 Paulie : Alabama..I would need enough money to do at least one co.
10:48 Paulie : I’m more or less putting Alabama on back burn because I did not have the fundraising letter ready for ths meeting, as I had hoped
10:49 Gene Trosper : Well, at least I know the next LNC meeting is July.
10:49 Steve Linnabary : will you be passing thru OH?
10:38 Mike Seebeck : Having it done by EOY 09 for approval for the one meeting prior to convention will saddle the new LNC with these changes without seeing if they are workable.
10:38 Gene Trosper : I asked this earlier, but didn’t receive and answer, so I inquire again: when and where is the next LNC meeting?
10:39 Mike Seebeck : TBD, Gene. They should mention it.
10:39 Gene Trosper : Okay, thanks. I thought I may have missed it.
10:40 Paulie : I don’t know, has it already been decided?
10:40 Mike Seebeck : They usually announce it later. Paulie, I thought there was an agenda posted at IPR earlier?
10:40 Gene Trosper : That’s why I was asking.
10:36 Mike Seebeck : Not everyone on Bylaws is a “parliamentary geek”. Some are there by cronyism.
10:37 Mike Seebeck : And note that Karlan, Carling, and Starr will create a railroad job over Moulton and Bennett.
10:30 dawgbreath : wonder if somebody there can get a leaked copy?
10:31 Mike Seebeck : They just said it’s not confidential. Copy request already sent.
10:17 dawgbreath : audio is good
10:18 Gene Trosper : Video is now up
10:18 Robert McGee : and we’re back
10:28 Mike Seebeck : This oughta be good.
10:28 Gene Trosper : ROTFMAO @ Seebeck
10:29 Gene Trosper : ROTFLAMO, actually
10:29 Mike Seebeck : Woopee. Advance copy.
10:09 Gene Trosper : The next meeting is when and where?
10:10 Gene Trosper : SABBATH!
10:11 Gene Trosper : Government Mule does and excellent cover of War Pigs
10:11 Gene Trosper : an
10:12 Robert McGee : working on the fee
10:12 Robert McGee : d
10:12 Gene Trosper : That’s okay. problems will happen
10:16 dawgbreath : no picture
10:17 Robert McGee : working on it
10:17 dawgbreath : audio is good
10:18 Gene Trosper : Video is now up
10:18 Robert McGee : and we’re back
10:02 Gene Trosper : Then hire Scott Bieser.
10:02 Mike Seebeck : The simple thing is that as far as national goes, they would need to tailor it to whatever state and region a new member is in, and THAT requires the…
10:03 Mike Seebeck : …the vertical coordination of information that just is not being done.
0:00 Mike Seebeck : Jingo’s “Liberty Pack” could easily be a part of that packet.
10:01 Gene Trosper : The Liberty Pack is the first suggestion he has proposed that I really like.
10:01 Mike Seebeck : We had those in LPEP and they were very effective, especially when they were used at outreach booths.
09:55 Gene Trosper : Which is why we need a volunteer network .
09:57 Gene Trosper : But what did Aaron do to retain Bonnie Flickinger?
09:58 Mike Seebeck : What’s the paper flipping in the background?
09:59 Mike Seebeck : I think what they need to do is almost online only, but retain the ability to print out for new membership welcome packets and outreach materials. Jingo’s…
10:00 Mike Seebeck : Jingo’s “Liberty Pack” could easily be a part of that packet.
09:49 Paulie : LP News. now quarterly. Possibly online again in a few months – maybe.
09:50 dawgbreath : Gene, why don’t YOU ressurrect “Volunteer”, make it part of your campaign for LNC
09:50 Gene Trosper : Good on Mark Hinkle. Excellent suggestion: value for the dollar
09:51 Gene Trosper : I can’t resurrect ‘Volunteer” as it was an official LP publication. But definitely, I have loads of volunteer suggestions and tips.
09:52 Paulie : You can esurrect something similar but not as an official pub.
09:52 Paulie : Hogarth wants to resurrect something like Rothbard’s Libertarian Vanguard
09:53 Paulie : They can be done online first perhaps?
09:53 Gene Trosper : I know. It could already be something I have already been thinking of ; )
09:53 Gene Trosper : Online exclusively. dead tree publications are on their way out.
09:54 Gene Trosper : Thing is: I’m not doing everything on my own ever again. I did so in the past and it burned me out really, really bad.
09:43 Mike Seebeck : Morning
09:43 Gene Trosper : Morning
09:43 Paulie : Interesting, I proposed this as a youtube chanel yesterday
09:43 dawgbreath : ’bout time you woke up
09:44 Mike Seebeck : whatever. I was up late. Still have jet lag from Wednesday!
09:45 Gene Trosper : The LP needs to have PDF flyers available for download (both color and B&W) on current issues of the day.
09:45 Gene Trosper : Such as the “bailout”
09:45 Paulie : That was part of the discussion yesterday
09:45 Paulie : We want it to be open surce
09:45 Gene Trosper : Agreed: open source.
09:46 Paulie : LNC members are worried people will misrepresent the party
09:46 dawgbreath : just starr
09:46 Paulie : They want to keep control
09:46 Paulie : They all voted agaist it except Rachel
09:46 Gene Trosper : Starr is a control freak, sorry to say.
09:47 dawgbreath : and wrong on the issues
09:47 Paulie : Realistically – are they really going to sue people for making LP fliers?
09:47 Mike Seebeck : No kidding. He messed up CA pretty bad and we’re still cleaning up his mess almost 2 years after he left.
09:47 Mike Seebeck : No, they won’t sue. No cash. No lawyer. No case, either.
09:48 Paulie : If they don’t allow the professional logos to be used, that just means people use lower grade logos
09:48 Gene Trosper : I would like to see the “Libertarian Volunteer” publication resurrected.
09:48 Mike Seebeck : Or older ones. Frankly, the gold one is UGLY anyway!
09:48 Paulie : LV – yeah, I was thinking that too
09:49 Gene Trosper : Or at least being made a part of LP News
09:49 Paulie : LP News. now quarterly. Possibly online again in a few months – maybe.
9:41 Gene Trosper : Thank you, Dr. Lark. Thank you for speaking the truth
09:42 dawgbreath : I was thinking the same thing
09:42 Gene Trosper : But emotional arguments are what win over voters
09:43 Mike Seebeck : Morning
09:43 Gene Trosper : Morning
09:43 Paulie : Interesting, I proposed this as a youtube chanel yesterday
09:43 dawgbreath : ’bout time you woke up
09:38 Gene Trosper : No value in petty bickering. I’ve been involved in the LP since 1990. I’ve seen too much of it.
09:41 Gene Trosper : Thank you, Dr. Lark. Thank you for speaking the truth
09:36 Gene Trosper : Anything interesting thus far?
09:36 dawgbreath : discussing why we are losing members
09:37 Gene Trosper : It’s because the LP has been spinning it’s wheels. If members don’t see value for their dues, they will go elsewhere
09:38 dawgbreath : you don’t see value in petty bickering?
09:38 Gene Trosper : It’s almost as if she was reading my post! LOL
9:28 theman : haha we had a freakin great year at cpac
09:29 dawgbreath : were there any lib speakers?
09:31 Paulie : Someone told me Ron Paul came in 2nd for p-2012?
09:31 dawgbreath : 3rd
09:32 theman : some lib speakers
09:32 theman : Paul got 3rd
09:32 theman : People were much friendlier to us this year than last year
09:32 dawgbreath : stormin’ mormon @ 20, Jindal @ 14, Paul @ 13, Palin @ 13
09:32 theman : haha
09:32 theman : yeah
09:33 theman : is there anywhere I can get a typed play by play of this somewhere?
09:33 theman : as much as I love the admiral
09:33 Paulie : https://independentpoliticalreport.com/2009/02/lslalnc-discussion-room/ mostly backup of this chat
09:34 Robert McGee : That link is also in the scrolling ticker
09:34 Paulie : Plus a few things, not a lot because the internet connection here is slow
09:34 Robert McGee : at the bottom of the creen
09:34 Paulie : We should have recorded video at IPR hopefully in next few days
09:35 Paulie : Regarding staff issues…that is all exec session
09:35 Gene Trosper : Good morning
09:35 Robert McGee : morning
09:36 Robert McGee : welcome
09:36 Gene Trosper : Anything interesting thus far?
09:36 dawgbreath : discussing why we are losing members
09:25 theman : exactly
09:27 theman : dudes my interns flipped off joe the plumber
09:27 Paulie : awesome
09:27 Paulie : Tell him say no to crack
09:28 dawgbreath : lol
09:28 theman : haha we had a freakin great year at cpac
09:23 theman : I was like
09:23 theman : ummm
09:23 dawgbreath : squeeze harder 🙂
09:23 theman : I’m not your guy for that one
09:23 theman : haha
09:23 theman : But get this
09:23 theman : there was this republican elected official
09:23 theman : i think frm indiana
09:23 theman : he was like
09:23 theman : Im a libertarian
09:23 theman : I really like you guys
09:24 theman : etc. etc.
09:24 theman : we chatted all weekend
09:24 theman : at the end of the conference
09:24 theman : he presented me with a liberty dollar
09:24 theman : he said that if they ever release the silver (the feds) then it will be redeemable
09:24 theman : lol
09:24 dawgbreath : now its worth as much as a FRN
09:25 theman : exactly
08:52 dawgbreath : feedback
08:52 dawgbreath : thx
08:54 Rocky changed their nickname to Paulie.
09:07 Robert McGee : how is sound?
09:12 dawgbreath : good
09:15 theman : wtf happened
09:15 theman : is anyone here?
09:15 Robert McGee : yes
09:15 Robert McGee : is there a problem with the feed?
09:15 dawgbreath : discussing why we are losing members
09:16 theman : I brought in a ton of new ones at CPAC this weekend
09:16 dawgbreath : great
09:17 theman : Hayek and competitive currencies were like red meat to the conservatives at CPAC
09:18 theman : i avoided the gay thing and drugs and focused on keynes vs hayek
09:18 dawgbreath : sound has been intermittant past couple minutes
09:18 dawgbreath : you were at CPAC
09:18 theman : Yeah I ran the LP booth
09:18 dawgbreath : kewl
09:18 theman : it was *** libertarian baddassery this year
09:19 theman : here’s all I want to know about this meeting…. does the volunteer coordinator still have a job?
09:19 dawgbreath : R’s always sound libertarian when out of power
09:20 theman : I know, but get this
09:20 theman : Even the Horowitz douche’s approached us and were like
09:20 theman : we know we cant spread democracy in iraq it’s a waste of time
09:20 theman : you dont understand islamofascism blah blah blah
09:21 theman : but man it was such a delight to go to those fancy receptions and introduce myself as from the
09:21 theman : Libertarian Party
09:21 theman : some of these mega rich conservatives thought they’d just faint
09:22 theman : their sensibilities were so tender
09:22 dawgbreath : did you ask for $ from those rich folks??
09:22 theman : yes
09:22 theman : I think i might be able to squeeze 10-15
09:23 theman : K
09:23 theman : 10-15K i meant
09:23 theman : if Im lucky
09:23 theman : most of the people wanted favors for it
http://twitter.com/RuthBennett:
Well, the St. Louis convention hotel that was chosen is now in bankruptcy. Ooops! What is the second choice?
about 15 hours ago from web
08:51 dawgbreath : wow…I still haven’t reset the clock on the stove since daylight savings change, saw it said 9:30 & went to the PC
08:51 dawgbreath : I’m early, but meeting is early!!
08:52 dawgbreath : feedback
08:52 dawgbreath : thx
Executive session was supposed to be first but was switched around. The camera crew had to tear down this equipt and then set it back up this morning so we did not capture the start of the meeting
17:47 Gene Trosper : Mike, you mention Keaton above. just about the time you posted that, I got an email from Angela announcing the formation of Outright Libertarians in Los Angeles
17:48 Gene Trosper : And she was asking for help at the LA pride booth this June. I’ll likely volunteer.
17:51 Mike Seebeck : we got that too
17:58 Gene Trosper : The song that inspired one of the greatest libertarian books!
20:58 paulie : We will reconvene live casting around 9:30AM; the LNC wants 1 hour in executive session when they reconvene at 8:30
20:59 paulie changed their nickname to Rocky.
21:40 Mike Seebeck : OK
22:53 deth : anybody still here?
00:03 Robert McGee : going to sleep now, be back on in the morning. Live feed starts at 9:30am EST
08:48 Robert McGee : GOOD MORNING, WE ARE LIVE!!!!
08:48 Rocky : live now
08:48 Rocky : this is paul
A quick response to the question of pdf copies of LP news. The APRC currently receives a pdf copy of LP news in order to facilitate the review process.
There was a discussion of producing LP News in the same format for the membership. Several of us on the committee believe that while we can’t eliminate the printed version (and certainly don’t want to!), we should start focusing more on interactive media for communication with the members and contributors to the party.
This discussion has been ongoing for the past few meetings. I believe that we’ll have a resolution to the issues related to web publication sometime in the near future.
I see our LNC chair voiced false claims relating to the Connecticut ballot access drive that the LNC failed to accomplish.
I was the standin in CT, so petitioning could start early. when we reached the right time, the LPCT sent me a letter to complete and return, handing the names over, and I immediately did so.
Redpath’s claim that I drove up their costs by being a standin in Connecticut are false.
If you want to look at things that drove up LNC petitioning costs, look at the contract they signs in MA: way too many signatures with absolutely no notice to the state party that they were doing it. We collected a considerable number of signatures at great expense to our treasury, and my pocketbook, and that was money down the drain because we simply duplicated the LNC nominating paper effort, even though they had been told we were collecting signatures.
Sorry guys, that last post aand this one weret actually from Rocky. I though that I had logged Paulie off on my laptop, but I guess not. I won’t be posting anymore until I can get that straightened out.

Anything and everything to get the word out is much appreciated. A big ataboy to everyone who is involved.
Sorry for the abrupt exit this afternoon, guys and gals. We were given rather the bum’s rush to get shut down so the LNC could go into ex-session. They will resume at 8:30 in the am, but will convene in ex-session and remain so for at least 1 hour. So we will start live casting ~9:30 or so.
Sorry for any inconveniences with the braidcast today. We’re still working out the bugs.
Even with the bugs and glitches, I think we all owe Robert McGee a big “attaboy” for his efforts. He was the main guy; I was just along for the ride.
lawsuit, and litigation falls under ES
17:47 Gene Trosper : Mike, you mention Keaton above. just about the time you posted that, I got an email from Angela announcing the formation of Outright Libertarians in Los Angeles
17:34 paulie : He is the party parliamentarian
17:34 Mike Seebeck : right, as appointed by billy bob, but the table is for voting members only. Keaton pointed that out in SD.
17:31 Mike Seebeck : Screw the logo crap. Just use it, be successful with it, and let them *** about the results later.
17:32 Mike Seebeck : http://muddythoughts.blogspot.com/2008/09/new-lp-mascot.html
17:33 Mike Seebeck : Why is M at the table? That’s a breach of protocol!
17:25 dawgbreath : ok, I knew it had to be somebody with backbone. I’d never met him
17:25 Gene Trosper : The LNC is akin to “analog” in an age of digital. behind the times
7:22 Mike Seebeck : OK, I’m back. What’s the scoop here?
17:22 Gene Trosper : make the logos downloadable, but one must fill out a licence for use of the logos.
17:23 Mike Seebeck : OK
17:24 dawgbreath : who is this guy?
17:24 Gene Trosper : R. lee Wrights
17:24 paulie : Lee Wrights
LNC run.
17:22 Lidia Seebeck changed their nickname to Mike Seebeck.
17:22 Mike Seebeck : OK, I’m back. What’s the scoop here?
17:22 Gene Trosper : make the logos downloadable, but one must fill out a licence for use of the logos.
17:15 Gene Trosper : I heartily disagree with Aaron on the LP logo issue. make the logos freely available, but with the caveat that they be used for specific purposes only.
17:05 Lidia Seebeck : I need to get off, real life beckons. Please monitor as best as you can Gene and thanks
17:06 paulie : You mean LNC meetings are not getting you off?
17:06 paulie : Shocker
17:06 Gene Trosper : LOL
to do real life outreach and going to the polls.
17:00 Lidia Seebeck : There is a LP twitter page?
17:00 Lidia Seebeck : what is it”?
17:00 Gene Trosper : good question
17:01 Lidia Seebeck : It needs to be spread. I will say something to Rachel
17:01 Gene Trosper : it’s it…what is it?
17:01 Gene Trosper : Umm….what does someone need? Probably a track record of accomplishments
17:02 Gene Trosper : Angela, LOL
17:02 Lidia Seebeck : yeah no kidding they killed off the best activist
that (Libety Cafe Show, Break the Matrix, et al)
16:59 dawgbreath : Probably more people watching this than ever watch public access
17:00 Lidia Seebeck : lol
17:00 Gene Trosper : But the internet is just a tool to drive people to do real life outreach and going to the polls.
17:00 Lidia Seebeck : There is a LP twitter page?
17:00 Lidia Seebeck : what is it”?
17:00 Gene Trosper : good question
16:58 Gene Trosper : Instead of public access, we should aim for internet broadcasting.
16:58 Lidia Seebeck : probably yes
16:58 Lidia Seebeck : I tend to agree, the RP movement does that (Libety Cafe Show, Break the Matrix, et al)
16:57 Lidia Seebeck : I know there was something done/ is doing(?) in austin TX as well
16:57 Gene Trosper : Honestly, public access doesn’t exactly draw much of an audience, but for information on creating and running a show, mark is the expert.
16:58 Gene Trosper : Instead of public access, we should aim for internet broadcasting.
16:58 Lidia Seebeck : probably yes
16:55 Lidia Seebeck : yep
16:55 dawgbreath : sound suddenly got better
16:55 Lidia Seebeck : those sirens are annyong
16:56 Gene Trosper : Not sure about mark, but he is THE person anyone interested in public access should refer to.
16:56 dawgbreath : but does ANYBODY watch it?
16:56 Lidia Seebeck : I know but I thought he was not doing that anymore. I really respect MaRK BTW
16:55 Lidia Seebeck : I have to agree. Is Selzer back in the saddle after his health concerns?
16:55 Gene Trosper : This is a political party, not an entertainment venue
16:55 Lidia Seebeck : yep
good job thus far on the news release front.
16:53 dawgbreath : Bill looks bored
16:53 Lidia Seebeck : lol
16:53 Gene Trosper : I would be bored as well.
16:53 Gene Trosper : MARK SELZER
16:54 Lidia Seebeck : huh? what about him?
16:54 paulie : I think one more hour
16:54 Lidia Seebeck : kk paulie
16:54 Gene Trosper : Libertarian public access TV begins and ends with Mark Selzer
membership)
16:52 Lidia Seebeck : how much longer is this scheduled for today?
16:52 Gene Trosper : Donny Ferguson seems to be doing a good job thus far on the news release front.
16:53 dawgbreath : Bill looks bored
16:53 Lidia Seebeck : lol
16:53 Gene Trosper : I would be bored as well.
16:40 Lidia Seebeck : of course I am biased
16:44 Gene Trosper : Not loving Jingo’s presentation thus far. emails, blogs and talk radio?
16:32 dawgbreath : that was my assumption, still funny
16:34 Lidia Seebeck : jingo speaking, interesting guy
16:36 Gene Trosper : The LP really does need to become aggressive in terms of outreach and activism. They should also consider implementing a quality system.
16:38 Gene Trosper : Each member of the LNC and staff should read this: http://www.endsoftheearth.com/Deming14Pts.htm
16:40 Lidia Seebeck : Or use real lobbying instead of philosophy wrangling to increase our political presence in halls of power
16:40 Lidia Seebeck : of course I am biased
16:26 Lidia Seebeck : Gene do you know any decent statisticians
16:27 Gene Trosper : Obama, the “stimulus” and california’s tax increases offer the LP a golden opportunity. However, the LP needs to offer members and potential members value.
16:28 Lidia Seebeck : very true
16:28 Gene Trosper : Statisticians? At work, I do.
16:28 Lidia Seebeck : btw did you get my CA revolion update about the Jon and Ken show?
16:29 Gene Trosper : On facebook?
16:29 Lidia Seebeck : They are doing a tax revolt rally next Sat in Fullterton
16:29 Gene Trosper : We need to go then.
16:29 Lidia Seebeck : yes on fb
16:29 Lidia Seebeck : yes we do
16:29 Gene Trosper : I hardly check facebook.
16:30 Lidia Seebeck : ssrry
16:30 Lidia Seebeck : fullerton is not far from here, eastern oc county
16:30 Gene Trosper : I need to do so more often, I suppose…MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, LiveJournal…I am overwhelmed.
16:30 Lidia Seebeck : I really should twitter and email event stuff
16:31 dawgbreath : funny, whispering comes through loud and clear!!
16:32 Lidia Seebeck : yeah I noticed
16:27 Gene Trosper : Obama, the “stimulus” and california’s tax increases offer the LP a golden opportunity. However, the LP needs to offer members and potential members value.
16:22 Gene Trosper : I wish so as well. pewrhaps mary would make available her presentation to us if we ask?
16:23 Lidia Seebeck : I can contact her. Unfortunately
16:23 Lidia Seebeck : II never took Statistic
16:23 Lidia Seebeck : So I can’t do anything more to the data
15:50 Lidia Seebeck : opt out but make direct mail available as needed– flexibility!!
15:59 Gene Trosper : Liberty is freedom of choice, so definitely, offer flexibility.
16:00 Lidia Seebeck : yep
16:07 Robert McGee : break
16:13 Robert McGee : sorry guys, gotta wait for the video guy to come back
16:13 Robert McGee : back
15:43 Lidia Seebeck : I feel like the 15k to WA was the best item budget
15:47 Lidia Seebeck : Rachel makes an excellent point, particularly in municipalities with trash limits and mandatory recycling. Some ppl have severe trouble with junk mail and trash
15:21 Robert McGee : we’re back now
15:25 paulie : Test
15:25 Robert McGee : Test
15:25 paulie : multiple choice
15:25 Robert McGee : LOL
15:26 paulie : Sound/video OK?
15:12 Gene Trosper : Masters of War by Bob Dylan is a good one too.
15:15 Gene Trosper : And “War” by Edwin Starr (philosophically no relation to Aaron Starr)
15:19 Mike Seebeck : Sig heil starr fuerher?
15:21 Mike Seebeck : OK, now what’s discussed by whom?
15:21 Robert McGee : Sorry fellas, technical dificulties earlier
15:21 Robert McGee : we’re back now
Hawkridge asked Starr about printing out the financials on 11×17 to make it easier to read, and Kraus said staff might have some objections to doing it. Why they would object to it is beyond logic or sense.
5:07 Mike Seebeck : Indeed. I wrote up what I did on mine from SD, and add to it.
15:08 Gene Trosper : A fave song of mine.
15:09 Gene Trosper : CSN&Y are cultural heros of mine
15:09 Mike Seebeck : I think we need Pink Floyd Dogs of War also and Def Leppard Gods of War.
15:05 Gene Trosper : For the record: I am extremely impressed with the Augusta Libertarian feed. Very well done!
15:06 Mike Seebeck : Absolutely. These folks have taken it to another level. I’ve been outclassed here and I’m very happy about it! 🙂
15:06 Robert McGee : Thank you very much. This is first time broadcating live so we’re working out the kinks
15:06 Mike Seebeck : Still, kinks and all, it’s great.
15:07 Gene Trosper : Robert: if you could write up a guide as to how you did this, it would be information we could all use.
15:07 Robert McGee : uh, I’ll probably do a video
15:07 Mike Seebeck : Indeed. I wrote up what I did on mine from SD, and add to it.

This is great!! You folks are doing a fantastic job w/ this webcast
Sounded like it to me.
15:01 augustalibertarian : It was about turning that around to lower signature requirements
15:01 Robert McGee : We’re not tesponsible for the ads from mogulus
15:01 Robert McGee : responsible*
15:02 Gene Trosper : yes, but he said something about ‘desperate” petitioners, unless my ears were decieving me.
15:02 dawgbreath : he was repeating what a state rep had told him
15:03 Gene Trosper : I understand that, Robert. I just found it ironic that there would be an ad encouraging the looting of taxpayers during a Libertarian function.
15:04 Gene Trosper : Thanks for the clarification, dawgbreath!
15:04 augustalibertarian changed their nickname to paulie.
15:04 paulie : http://pauliecannoli.wordpress.com/2009/02/25/dude-wheres-my-bailout/
4:59 Gene Trosper : Was that a slam against paid petitioners? Sounded like it to me.
15:01 augustalibertarian : It was about turning that around to lower signature requirements
14:58 Gene Trosper : How ironic: the ad which appeared over the video stream is advertising the “stimulus” checks and how to get “your share”. Disgusting.
14:53 Gene Trosper : is there anything interfereing with the mic? Getting low-level feedback
14:54 Mike Seebeck : check to make sure the speakers are muted on the broadcast computer. I had that problem when I was testing my set before SD.
14:54 Robert McGee : Robert is working on second mic
14:54 Robert McGee : Robert is back here now.
14:55 Robert McGee : how is the sound?
14:55 Gene Trosper : sounds fine now.
14:52 Gene Trosper : feedback
14:53 Gene Trosper : is there anything interfereing with the mic? Getting low-level feedback

14:54 Robert McGee : Robert is working on second mic
14:49 Gene Trosper : it always drops when they switch to the second camera
14:50 augustalibertarian : Bill Hall as general counsel
14:50 Mike Seebeck : Well, that’s interesting. Did he say why?
14:50 Gene Trosper : That’s no surprise.
14:51 augustalibertarian : He gave warning last meeting
14:52 augustalibertarian : It’s eating up too much of his time and people second guessing him
14:52 Gene Trosper : feedback
14:49 Mike Seebeck : whos’ resigning from what?
14:49 Mike Seebeck : Audio dropped
14:49 Gene Trosper : it always drops when they switch to the second camera

Weather looking good here. Should be 70 or better outside tomorrow.
With the economy crashing, we?ve even got a reasonably good chance that we?ll be able to witness spontaneous rebellion as the citizens overthrow the tyrants in Columbia and Washington and form a new country.
They estimate that we?re about 20 years overdue for an 8.8.
Don?t worry, the hotel is very sturdy. They built it about 30 years after the 1886 earthquake.
8 Rocky // Feb 27, 2009 at 1:41 am
8.8???!!! Jesus! Have you ever heard of Seneca?s Guns, Stewart? We used to have them off the coast of North Carolina when I lived at the coast there.
9 Stewart Flood // Feb 27, 2009 at 5:43 am
Never heard of Seneca?s Guns.
But they say that we should get at least a few warning tremors before the big one, so since it hasn?t rumbled here in months?hey?what?s?tha???..
10 Stewart Flood // Feb 27, 2009 at 7:25 am
Well I survived the long trip downtown ? must be at least three or four miles ? and I?m sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for everyone else to wake up and get this show on the road!!!
The publicly available wifi seems to work just fine. Checked my e-mail with no problems. Just had to click accept on the usual ?terms and conditions? page and everything started working. Guess I should have read the terms, but since they don?t charge for access it probably doesn?t matter what it says?
11 Stewart Flood // Feb 28, 2009 at 11:20 am
The wireless network in the hotel worked flawlessly yesterday, but access is virtually non-existent today. No one at the LSLA is able to connect in the lobby or the meeting room area anymore and access in the guest rooms seems to now require a ?booster? (usb based device that then connects to your ethernet port to deliver service).
I fought with the brainless robots at the customer service number I was given, and they eventually decided I needed to use this ?booster.?
It runs in the room ? barely. I?ll see if it connects downstairs. I?m going to leave my laptop running/connected and carry it down there. Hopefully it will hold the connection.

Coming up by request
43 Gene Trosper // Feb 28, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Thanks. I?m watching this on Mogulus and the sound from the embedded video on this page causes audio havoc because the two feeds clash. Plus, the liveblog deserves it own thread anyway.
Again, thanks, Paulie!

@#158 – Steven, we plan to write a report for sure – along with some suggestions that will maybe make these live casts even better in the future. Thanks to Mike Seebeck for this report from San Diego which helped us to get set up.
As I have said before, this weekends production was VERY good. Very professional.
I hope somebody writes a “how-to” paper on this, along with costs involved so that others can do the same.
PEACE
They had them on tripods. I think SD was just a webcam attached to a laptop with nothing to hold it steady.

OK, it’s working now.
Paulie, it must be on your end, I can log in fine–and I just checked your editing ability and its still valid.
I’d like to post it here, but IPR is not letting me log in.
George, the LNC meeting video will be posted to the “Video on Demand” folder at http://www.mogulus.com/augustalibertarian. Later this evening or tomorrow.
It is incomplete because of internet connection with the hotel’s wireless network, but there are 6 or so hours of video available out of the total of about 8.
Does anyone have plans to archive the LNC meeting tapes in an accessible location?
I am trying to do something for liberty:
http://www.californiarevolution.com
I created the site and am working on building up not just the site, but a libertarian-oriented voice against the California state budget that will be active on the streets. It’s the largest effort I have undertaken, but will be well worth it for the liberty of Californians.
@#147 – I agree, Gene.
I wonder what some of the deadwood types on the LNC are going to do when we in the party pass them by.
Not a knock on him, far from it. It’s just sad that he had to make the presentation that he did because we clearly are NOT doing the basics, by and large.
@143
I agree the LP needs to be more activist. The shame is that Jingo was covering the BASICS of what we should already be doing.
9:11 pm EDT – Robbert is replaying the LNC session from this morning at http://www.mogulus.com/augustalibertarian
@#80 – 17:00 Lidia Seebeck : There is a LP twitter page?
17:00 Lidia Seebeck : what is it”?
17:00 Gene Trosper : good question
The twitter page Rachel referenced is LPGa: http://twitter.com/LPGeorgia
16 Paulie Audrey Capozzi’s report on the Sundwall campaign for special congressional election in New York on 3/31/09.
We have 3100 signatures out of 3500 needed. We have raised over $7000.
We will be in the League of Women Voters/WROW Talk Radio debate in Albany.
Richard Cooper, Campaign Manager

MW
are we still on exec. meeting cuz there is no video?
good job guys!
Wifi seems to be working again this evening. Maybe they plugged the access point back into the network.
MW
Sorry for the abrupt exit this afternoon, guys and gals. We were given rather the bum’s rush to get shut down so the LNC could go into ex-session. They will resume at 8:30 in the am, but will convene in ex-session and remain so for at least 1 hour. So we will start live casting ~9:30 or so.
Sorry for any inconveniences with the braidcast today. We’re still working out the bugs.
Even with the bugs and glitches, I think we all owe Robert McGee a big “attaboy” for his efforts. He was the main guy; I was just along for the ride.
17:48 Gene Trosper : And she was asking for help at the LA pride booth this June. I’ll likely volunteer.
lawsuit, and litigation falls under ES
17:47 Gene Trosper : Mike, you mention Keaton above. just about the time you posted that, I got an email from Angela announcing the formation of Outright Libertarians in Los Angeles
17:37 dawgbreath : in secret, IOW
17:39 Mike Seebeck : Because part of OK is a ballot access lawsuit, and litigation falls under ES
17:36 dawgbreath : why would ballot access need to be in exec session?
17:37 dawgbreath : in secret, IOW
17:34 paulie : He is the party parliamentarian
17:34 Mike Seebeck : right, as appointed by billy bob, but the table is for voting members only. Keaton pointed that out in SD.
17:34 paulie : He is the party parliamentarian
17:31 Mike Seebeck : Screw the logo crap. Just use it, be successful with it, and let them *** about the results later.
17:32 Mike Seebeck : http://muddythoughts.blogspot.com/2008/09/new-lp-mascot.html
17:33 Mike Seebeck : Why is M at the table? That’s a breach of protocol!
17:28 Gene Trosper : And what is the review turn around time?
17:28 Gene Trosper : Where is the flexibility?
7:26 Gene Trosper : No!
17:26 Gene Trosper : And again: NO!
17:27 dawgbreath : lol
digital. behind the times
17:26 Gene Trosper : NO!
17:26 dawgbreath : more like western union
17:26 Gene Trosper : No!
17:20 Gene Trosper : Which is why I am seriously debating an LNC run.
17:19 Gene Trosper : The LNC is hampering the activists and affiliates.
17:20 dawgbreath : business as usual
17:15 Gene Trosper : I heartily disagree with Aaron on the LP logo issue. make the logos freely available, but with the caveat that they be used for specific purposes only.
17:11 Gene Trosper : creative commons. That’s the wave of the future.
17:11 paulie : exactly
17:09 Gene Trosper : The LP really needs to go open source on as many things as possible for flexibility and lower cost
17:09 paulie : Agree
17:07 Gene Trosper : LNC meetings give me a case of ED
17:05 Lidia Seebeck : I need to get off, real life beckons. Please monitor as best as you can Gene and thanks
17:06 paulie : You mean LNC meetings are not getting you off?
17:06 paulie : Shocker
17:06 Gene Trosper : LOL
17:03 Lidia Seebeck : although to be fair Rachel is very much the same way in her region
17:03 Lidia Seebeck : just not as well known
to do real life outreach and going to the polls.
Hawkridge – web 2.0
16:57 Lidia Seebeck : I know there was something done/ is doing(?) in austin TX as well
16:57 Gene Trosper : Honestly, public access doesn’t exactly draw much of an audience, but for information on creating and running a show, mark is the expert.
16:58 Gene Trosper : Instead of public access, we should aim for internet broadcasting.
16:58 Lidia Seebeck : probably yes
16:57 Lidia Seebeck : I know there was something done/ is doing(?) in austin TX as well
16:55 Lidia Seebeck : yep
16:54 Lidia Seebeck : kk paulie
16:54 Gene Trosper : Libertarian public access TV begins and ends with Mark Selzer
16:54 Gene Trosper : NOOOOOOOO
good job thus far on the news release front.
16:53 dawgbreath : Bill looks bored
16:53 Lidia Seebeck : lol
16:53 Gene Trosper : I would be bored as well.
16:53 Gene Trosper : MARK SELZER
16:54 Lidia Seebeck : huh? what about him?
16:54 paulie : I think one more hour
16:54 Lidia Seebeck : kk paulie
16:54 Gene Trosper : Libertarian public access TV begins and ends with Mark Selzer
membership)
16:52 Lidia Seebeck : how much longer is this scheduled for today?
16:52 Gene Trosper : Donny Ferguson seems to be doing a good job thus far on the news release front.
16:53 dawgbreath : Bill looks bored
16:53 Lidia Seebeck : lol
16:53 Gene Trosper : I would be bored as well.
16:48 Lidia Seebeck : I wonder if he realizes that a chunk of that room is pro-war (even as he is on the side of most of the membership)
16:47 Gene Trosper : No, what we need is to ACCOMPLISH, so people will feel motivated to do something and join.
16:47 Lidia Seebeck : YES
16:40 Lidia Seebeck : of course I am biased
16:44 Gene Trosper : Not loving Jingo’s presentation thus far. emails, blogs and talk radio?
Jingo presentation
16:32 Lidia Seebeck : it may be proximity to the mic, hubby had that in SD
16:32 dawgbreath : that was my assumption, still funny
16:26 Lidia Seebeck : Gene do you know any decent statisticians
16:22 Gene Trosper : I wish so as well. pewrhaps mary would make available her presentation to us if we ask?
16:23 Lidia Seebeck : I can contact her. Unfortunately
16:23 Lidia Seebeck : II never took Statistic
16:23 Lidia Seebeck : So I can’t do anything more to the data
16:20 Lidia Seebeck : I hope Mary took Statistics in her coursework years ago– this begs more analysiis
New members are on target, but renewals are 50% of expected
Membership loss is much faster than projected
Stewart Flood reminded me that he got LNC confidentiality issue pushed back to next meeting
16:13 Robert McGee : sorry guys, gotta wait for the video guy to come back
16:13 Robert McGee : back
back in session
Ruwart on membership
5 min break
Somebody said something about a pdf — but I think that may be for LNC members only
Is LP news on the internet again?
With the internet, who really needs a hard copy LP News?
LP News is now quarterly due to budget issues
15:50 Lidia Seebeck : opt out but make direct mail available as needed– flexibility!!
15:48 Lidia Seebeck : Allow people to opt out of direct mail and it makes Liberty easier for them
15:43 Lidia Seebeck : I feel like the 15k to WA was the best item budget
15:47 Lidia Seebeck : Rachel makes an excellent point, particularly in municipalities with trash limits and mandatory recycling. Some ppl have severe trouble with junk mail and trash
15:42 Lidia Seebeck : I think the biggest thing that would increase donorship would be to have the LNC DO stuff instead of just squandering it.
15:39 Lidia Seebeck : I really hope we can keep this up not only for LNC but also for state EC and conventions
15:37 Lidia Seebeck : BTW mega kudos to Rocky for the fantastic quality and presentation
15:38 dawgbreath : VERY professional
15:31 Lidia Seebeck : i’m confused aqbout the Facebook discussion
15:32 dawgbreath : feedback
15:28 Mike Seebeck : OK, Lidia is taking over for me.
15:28 Mike Seebeck changed their nickname to Lidia Seebeck.
LNC facebook discussion boards being disabled is now, being discussed.
15:27 Mike Seebeck : lol!
15:27 Mike Seebeck : why is national discussing supporting local electeds when that’s a state problem?
15:25 Robert McGee : LOL
15:26 paulie : Sound/video OK?
15:26 dawgbreath : yup
15:26 Mike Seebeck : fine, except for the screeching. Oh, wait, that’s Starr talking.
15:26 paulie : Simmer down people! lol
15:21 Robert McGee : we’re back now
Tech issues. Should be back on now.
Staff reports
Kraus is introduccing Ferguson
Hawkridge asked Starr about printing out the financials on 11×17 to make it easier to read, and Kraus said staff might have some objections to doing it. Why they would object to it is beyond logic or sense.
Break
Camera is steady, not shaky as SD
Sound is good, most of the time

Somebody said something about printing needs to be larger on handout materials.
I did not follow it closely..

14:50 Mike Seebeck : Well, that’s interesting. Did he say why?
14:50 Gene Trosper : That’s no surprise.

Weather looking good here. Should be 70 or better outside tomorrow.
With the economy crashing, we?ve even got a reasonably good chance that we?ll be able to witness spontaneous rebellion as the citizens overthrow the tyrants in Columbia and Washington and form a new country.
Of course we could also have an earthquake?
Stewart
6 Rocky // Feb 26, 2009 at 9:39 pm
Stewart, hey, it?s happened before! In a major way – http://earthquake.usgs.gov/regional/states/events/1886_09_01.php
7 Stewart Flood // Feb 27, 2009 at 12:19 am
Did you think that I was joking?

Paulie, can this liveblog be a separate thread instead?
Coming up by request
43 Gene Trosper // Feb 28, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Thanks. I?m watching this on Mogulus and the sound from the embedded video on this page causes audio havoc because the two feeds clash. Plus, the liveblog deserves it own thread anyway.
Again, thanks, Paulie!

Still working on it, logging in caused the broswer to crashj and had to restart

In the meantime; Hogarth and Power got 1 vote each. Mattson won over Salvette.
