Chafee announces bid for governor
By Richard C. Dujardin / Wednesday, April 29, 2009
Ending several weeks of “exploration” into whether he would run for the job, former U.S. Sen. Lincoln D. Chafee announced Tuesday night that he is an independent candidate for governor of Rhode Island.

good catch Kim.
Should make for an interesting race. Chaffee probably has a good shot at winning.
I know what my editor likes.
(And, I really needed a story to post today!)
Go Chaffee, Go!
Kimberly,
Can we fix the title?
Thanks Kim.
If any one on the state level could use the Bull Moose [2012] and Teddy Roosevelt symbolism…..
Rather ironic that Spector is more conservative than Chaffee, yet it’s Chaffee who stays independent, and Specter who switches right to the Democratic Party.
On the other hand, Lieberman (similar to Specter) and Sanders (very far left) and former Maine governor Angus King, and overrated Vermont politician Anthony Pollina, are all New England independents. New England seems to be best for independents, along with Minnesota, although they still don’t do well in presidential elections since Perot did so well in Maine, and noname independents won’t do well in congressional or governor elections.
How can someone actually meet Sen. Chafee?
We here at Third Party Revolution endorse Lincoln Chafee in his campaign for Governor of Rhode Island, along with many other third party and independent candidates for public offices nation-wide, ranging from local to federal levels.
