Pat LaMarche: ‘Fire the politicians who lost the last decade for us’

2004 Green Party vice presidential candidate and 2006 Green Party Maine gubernatorial candidate Pat LaMarche has a column in the Bangor Daily News of Bangor, Maine.  In today’s column, she wrote about breaking free from duopoly politics.  Read the full thing here.

I’ve been advocating for other options in the ballot box since before this last dismal decade began. So I’ve heard the argument that creating new political parties and a new election process is radical. But it isn’t radical, it’s essential. During these 10 years where our economy fell apart — somewhere between “shock and awe” and “hope and change” — we got little or no difference from our purveyors of political “business as usual.”

The parties in power know that if you have real choices you might finally throw them out. And nationally they don’t have much to worry about.

“I dropped it [Reverend] after you castigated religion.”

Well you proved my point! I might have [or have not] castgated ‘religion’ but I could be a very spiritual guy, some one whom asked [and got] a Bible for my 16th birthday, whom was a sexual virgin FOR EVER, whom has never smoked one cigarette, whom has never been drunk or drugged ….]

I have fought the good fight, I have run the race, with We The People Coalition, the Reform Party USA [Blare cabal] and the Veterans Party who were confused as to their status [politics or church ……….]

I castigated religion’s improper role in a secular public administration. Ya want Church and State ????? Try Ireland, Norway, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Kuwait, Libya, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Greece, Britian ………. I do not see a Mogan David, Crucifixion or Crescent on our tribal banner!

Geez Lou and VA, whatcha want, the candidate (a specific traitor to the Anti Establishment Duopoly case, and possibly the worst third party type of the century) is quoted from her own inventory of insanity.

With ‘friends’ like Patricia LaMarche, do non Democans and non Republicrats even need enemies ????????

Lake: you need to contact Sacramento Sam, religious pan pol Phil Sawyer. Religious Reform Party, Socialist /Communist Sawyer, formerly of the Bible Beaters of the California AIP bemoans the terror tactics of the Dems and GOP. Then he invites us lambs to lay down with the Duopoly Establishment lions, form a circle and hold hands and sing ‘Kumbiya’ ……

    * yeah, but having a direct pipe line to the greater powers is an unnatural and unfair advantage in secular public administration and it’s shady hand maiden [politics]! No wonder that it is the last refuge of scoundrels!

As my horrible horrible father would say [about three times an hour] “that (politician) is the biggest enemy of God on the planet’ (and spot light three different politicians!)

That’s the problem with this site, 17 comments and not a single on touches on the content of the post. Just a lot of ad-hominem attacks and self-referential back-slapping.

But the half dozen or so regular posters seem to enjoy it so it can’t be all bad, right?

  5. VAGreen January 10, 2010

Pat LaMarche won ballot access for the Green Party in Maine in 1998 and 2006. It’s too bad that some on the sectarian left are still obsessed with playing Cobb-Nader, especially considering that Cobb and Nader combined got less than 0.5% of the vote in 2004.

  6. joell January 7, 2010

who could ever forget 2004 GP VP candidate Pat LaMarche?

“i might not vote for myself if the race is close” in my home state.

“Thank you for dropping the “Rev” on this forum for secular public administration. Politics, left, right and center, has WAY too much ‘churchie’ influence!”

I dropped it after you castigated religion. You know very little about me and in one fell swoop stereotyped me.

As an American citizen I have every right to participate in politics like anyone else. I am not ashamed of being an ordained minister, not at all. No one has the right to attempt to say who can and cannot be a full participant in the political system.

I agree that there are those in the field of religion who want to force their agenda. However, this is not just germane to the field of religion. Trial lawyers, oil companies, pharmaceutical companies, the labor unions, the NEA, etc., all try to force their agendas.

American politics will best be served when all lobbyists are banned from lobbying Congress or governmental entities at any level.

My friend, I suspect you and I have more in common than not. Thank you for a civil post and hopefully you and I can exchange ideas in a polite and respectful manner. Take care.

“Well there is always some thing about religious folks poking their holier than thou noses into secular public administration. Some of ‘you folks’ may think that ‘Reverend’ intimidates the sheeple —– but for the rest of us, it just set off the alarm bells and bull shit radar!”

I long for the day I develop your knack for genuine civil public discourse and intelligent, thought-provoking, brain dazzling witicisms that defy everyone’s synoptical brilliance.

Guess there are some things about Ms. LaMarche I don’t know. She came across as an intelligent and competent gubernatorial candidate.

  12. Michael Cavlan RN January 7, 2010

Pat LaMarche exemplifies what is wrong with the GP.

Safe states, would not even vote for herself if it might have affected Kerry (yes, she actually said this), mean spirited, vindictive individual who gladly used the corrupted Green Party National Committee to supress dissent.

I speak on all levels here from personal experience.

But hey, us old “destructo-greens” wanting to build a serious, unafraid opposition to the pro-wr, corporate corrupted two party system.

What were we thinking? Oh yeah, that’s right.

We left the GP to the tender mercies of the Pat LaMarches of the world.

    Carry on, build, organize.

  13. James W. Clifton January 7, 2010

I have always like Pat LaMarche and thought if the Green Party had more in like her and Kat Swift, it could do better in local, state, and national election.

    Ross Levin,

There’s an error in the post. LaMarche was not a candidate for Governor in 2002. She did however run for governor as the Maine Green Independent Party nominee in 1998 (6.8%) and 2006 (9.6%). In 2002 the Greens ran Jonathan Carter for governor of Maine (9.3%). Carter was also the first Green in the state to run for Governor in 1994 (6.4%).
