From an email sent to IPR by the Libertarian Party of Indiana HQ:
For Immediate Release: March 24, 2012
The Libertarian Party of Indiana met at its annual state convention this afternoon to select its candidates for the 2012 election cycle.
Indiana election law lays out that the membership of a party that achieves between two and nine percent in the Secretary of State race will gathers at nomination conventions to elect their candidates. The Libertarian Party of Indiana won six percent of the vote in 2010.
“The election cycle before us is potentially historic for the Libertarian Party of Indiana,” said State Chair Sam Goldstein. “Our delegates were excited to nominate this slate of candidates, and are ready to work hard for them in the coming months. We have a Governor’s candidate in Rupert Boneham that can reach out to the 70% of the population that does not vote, and bring them in to the process. He brings a level of name id that our previous candidates have not had, which is important in politics. We have a United States Senate candidate in Andrew Horning that has a message that has always been too early. His message has finally become mainstream. We have also have some of the best Congressional and State Legislative candidates in our history. For example, Rex Bell set records in his last race, and he’s looking to make history in Congressional District 6. Congressional District 5 candidate Chard Reid won our party’s first endorsement by the state’s largest newspaper in his last Congressional run. These are just a few of the incredible candidates that will spread the message of libertarianism in 2012.”
The following candidates are the Libertarian Party of Indiana Nominees for 2012:
Governor: Rupert Boneham
Lt. Governor: Brad Klopfenstein
U.S. Senate: Andrew Horning
Congressional District 4: Joe Bowman
Congressional District 5: Chard Reid
Congressional District 6: Rex Bell
Congressional District 7: Jason Sharp
Congressional District 8: Bart Gadau
The LPIN also nominated nine State House candidates:
James Rainwater, District 28
Jeremiah Morrell, District 54
Mark Brim, District 56
Paul Bravard, District 57
Al Cox, District 65
Alexander Avery, District 81
James Hanson, District 84
Fred Peterson, District 87
James Nease, District 89
Jeffrey Knoop was nominated for Marion County superior court judge.
The Libertarian Party of Indiana also held a Presidential debate and straw poll. Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson won this straw poll with 87% of the vote.

ABOUT THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY: The Libertarian Party is America, and Indiana’s, third largest political party founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. Its vision is for a world in which all individuals can freely exercise the natural right of sole dominion over their own lives, liberty and property by building a political party that elects Libertarians to public office, and moving public policy in a libertarian direction.
The Libertarian Party of Indiana was formed in 1974, and has maintained ballot access since 1994. Sam Goldstein, an Indianapolis resident, currently serves as Chairman.

Gary Johnson 2012: Environment – http://www.youtube.com/user/govgaryjohnson?feature=BF#p/u/8/-BZnPVOKEi0
Who’s the greatest polluter of all? The oil companies? The chemical companies? The nuclear power plants? If you guessed “none of the above,” you’d be correct. Our government, at the federal, state, and local levels, is the single greatest polluter in the land. In addition, our government doesn’t even clean up its own garbage! In 1988, for example, the EPA demanded that the Departments of Energy and Defense clean up 17 of their weapons plants which were leaking radioactive and toxic chemicals — enough contamination to cost $100 billion in clean-up costs over 50 years! The EPA was simply ignored. No bureaucrats went to jail or were sued for damages. Government departments have sovereign immunity. – http://www.lp.org/
The environment would benefit immensely from the elimination of sovereign immunity coupled with the privatization of “land and beast.” The third and final step in the libertarian program to save the environment is the use of restitution both as a deterrent and a restorative. – http://www.lp.org/

You can now change all my propaganda to 67 to 87% for GJ in major straw polls. I still say he wins in the first round. Which is better than (elect Newt) Barr by about 5 rounds.

No Obstacle Too Great – Meet Gary Johnson: http://www.garyjohnson2012.com/about
The Libertarian Party’s anti-crime plan would do what the Democrats and Republicans have not done:
•Respect the victim’s rights and make criminals pay full restitution.
•Hold all criminals responsible for their actions.
•Double the police resources available for crime prevention without any additional government spending.
•Reduce the number of criminals at large on our streets.
•Defend the most effective crime deterrent available, the private ownership of guns.
•Create jobs, end welfare dependence, and improve education.
This Libertarian program would help make America’s streets safe again.

“I believe it would be more accurate for the headline to say “nominates” rather than “elects” candidates.”
Boom–headshot. Fully agree. I’ll prolly change it in a few minutes.
Wonderful news ! Be bold and please take advantage of all that free local media available in each race.
Would be extra nice if the good people of Indiana could give about $50,000 to LPUS ballot access efforts. It is needed and would be greatly appreciated!
Dear Friends of Liberty Will you donate to help fund major ballot access petition drives in New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania and many more states?

Always give until it feels GOOD, Thx !!!
The Libertarian Party offers a positive alternative to the failed welfare state. We offer a vision of a society based on work, individual responsibility, and private charity. It is a society based on opportunity and genuine compassion It is a society built on liberty.
Any society that lets kids grow up dependent on government welfare, attending government schools that fail to teach, and entering an economy where government policy has crushed opportunity, will be a society that breeds criminals. No permanent solution to crime will be found until we address these root causes of crime.
The Libertarian Party would increase employment opportunities by slashing taxes and government red tape. We would also end the welfare system with its culture of dependence and hopelessness. Most important of all, we would promote low-cost private alternatives to the failed government school system. – http://www.lp.org/
I believe it would be more accurate for the headline to say “nominates” rather than “elects” candidates.
The nomination of TV celebrity Rupert Boneham as the Libertarian Governor candidate has got the party some good attention. The story is on the AP. It has about 298 hits on Google News. And, was a featured Yahoo new story. Congrats!
