Festival organizers are thrilled to announce that the United We Stand Festival will be held today, May 10, at The Belasco Theater, 1050 S Hill Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Doors open at 4PM and the show starts at 5PM.
Christina Tobin, founder and chair of Free and Equal, stated:
“We are creators of our own fulfillment, and when creating something that entails actual real change, obstacles will be in the way. But I will not give up. I am committed to activism to create a better world, and I am playing my part in advocating for a balanced economy, sustainable environment, and level playing field for all. I am also very dedicated to elevating women’s leadership on the critical issues of our present times and ensuring women are equally represented throughout our society.”
“We are so very grateful to The Belasco Theater for accommodating Saturday’s festival with less than 24 hours notice. This event sets up an even greater path for future festivals. We look forward to producing an inspiring and empowering event for our talent and guests today.”

About United We Stand Festival
Free & Equal Elections Foundation, the grassroots organization that in 2012 hosted the open presidential debate moderated by television legend Larry King, will gather iconic musicians, intellectuals, and activists to empower American’s voting youth to hold their elected leaders accountable for free and equal elections. The “United We Stand” University Bus Tour will launch this educational movement May 10, 2014. The festival co-sponsored by a number of socially-responsible businesses including Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Nature’s Path Organic, and Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, and numerous grassroots activist organizations brings together various perspectives which are not currently represented in Washington.
Musical headliners include founding members of Wu-Tang Clan, Immortal Technique, The Siren, Paul Masvidal of Cynic, Tatiana Moroz, Rooftop Revolutionaries, A-Alikes, Luminaries, Kellee Maize, Jon Goodhue, Sounds of Solidarity, and more.
Speakers include Larry King (media legend), Chuck D of Public Enemy, Ben Cohen & Jerry Greenfield (Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream; via video), Dennis Kucinich (former Ohio Representative), Marianne Williamson (New York Times bestselling author & independent congressional candidate, CA-33), David Bronner (CEO of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps), and Sean Stone (son of Oliver Stone, host of Buzzsaw).

I don’t think I made my point well, Shane. What I’m saying is that, judging by how Christina explained the situation, I believe it was clearly her fault. She wasn’t admitting it, and by telling the story like that, she most likely doesn’t think it was her fault. It just seems to me she should have been prepared for that large payment, as it most certainly wasn’t a surprise.
Maybe I missed something but I didn’t get that impression that she was admitting fault.
I’ll admit that hosting a massive live event on the projection that you’ll have XX in ticket sales for a movement that has a handful of supporters is something I would never want to be responsible for.
Anyway, I feel bad for being critical of an ambitious project that was a brave risk, but after having been burned by Christina in the past, all I can think is “karma.”
I think her video very clearly admits it was her fault. It seems to me that she woke up Tuesday morning still not certain where the $90,000 was coming from, that was due at noon on Monday, the day before. Also, toward the end of the video she says she’s hoping to get a $20,000 loan to pay for the hotel for Friday night, an event that was happening right then! I’m glad things worked out, but her lack of proper fundraising inconveniennced many, many people.
I watched Christina’s video. I would be interested in hearing UCLA’s take on this.
I’ve been put in a situation in the past dealing with Christina that made me decide not to deal with her and not to take part in an event she was hosting. After being told one story about confirmed participants by Free & Equal, I did my due-diligence and contacted the other folks who had supposedly confirmed — they had not — not even close.
While I appreciate Christina’s activism and ability to think big, there always seems to be a good deal of drama surrounding her. That makes sense if she continues to do business in the manner that I experienced.
There were several people scheduled to appear who did not besides Kucinich. Most notably, Larry King and Gary Johnson never showed up.
It was a good event though. I’ll write something up about it tonight.
I suspect there will be a few others. Before, they were going to have a couple stages, but I doubt that will be the case here. There are many people scheduled to speak or perform.
Are the other announced speakers and acts still going to be there?
Dennis Kucinich has just dropped out
I do to. I will be pleasantly surprised if it does.
I love the fact that so many Industrial Hemp firms are involved with this movement. Having David Bronner speak is a big deal for anyone who cares about fair trade, non-GMO, and Hemp farming in America.
I know brad from Hippie Butter, and he is great person. I can see why he is sponsoring this event. Nature’s path organic is a major sponsor for Hemp History week.
I really hope this venue change goes smoothly. Good vibes from the Midwest.
I think that is the 10 minute speech Jill referred to?

Someone want to try calling the prior location to see what they are telling people?
Agreed and agreed
It should be more than one person to redirect people but I am glad at least someone is doing it.
One person raised his hand and volunteered to redirect people. Again, we need all good thoughts directed toward this festival that it works. If it doesn’t, the future of events for our liberty movement could be severely compromised,
Everyone just needs to listen to Christina’s ten minute talk to get what I’m saying.
I wonder if anyone is located at the place where it was going to be to redirect people to the new venue?
Since this came out four hours before the event started, I’m using the graphic for the venue for this article. I certainly hope everyone gets the news. .
Cross your fingers that someone thought about selling beverages at least, since the event is going on for many hours.
