New York Socialists Join Protest Against NYPD

From the Socialist Party USA website:

Members of the New York state chapter of the Socialist Party participated in the protests against the NYPD in response to the lack of indictment of the police officer who killed Eric Garner with an illegal chokehold. The protests came from different corners of New York City to converge together in Times Square.

The protests were, as far as Joseph Phillips observed, peaceful and done with well-channeled anger. Tactics used in the protest included the established chants of the anti-police brutality protests of the last few months and blocking off traffic in roads, tunnels, and bridges.

The NYPD was more aggressive in these protests than last week’s Ferguson solidarity protests. Multiple attempts were made by the police to cage the protesters into a small confined area to stop their movement, but the protesters were able to make their way out of the confinements. In addition, dozens of arrests were made.

Protests are set to continue for the foreseeable future.

    True!

Albuquerque is actually statistically the worst, BTW.

Everyone who believes all lives are valuable should be protesting the NYPD. As long as cops can blatantly murder people and just walk away, we’re nowhere near a country we should brag about.

The LAPD is awful, also They recently started a fire in a wildfire-prone national forest in order to execute someone. This is simply not acceptable iin a civilized society.
