From email blast from Free Press Publications, authored by Libertarian Party Presidential candidate Darryl W. Perry:
There has been a lot of discussion recently about the decision by Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with Harriet Tubman. In an open letter published April 20, Lew wrote “The decision to put Harriet Tubman on the new $20 was driven by thousands of responses we received from Americans young and old. I have been particularly struck by the many comments and reactions from children for whom Harriet Tubman is not just a historical figure, but a role model for leadership and participation in our democracy.”
In addition to adding Tubman’s face to the $20 bill, the Treasury “announced plans for the reverse of the new $10 to feature an image of the historic march for suffrage that ended on the steps of the Treasury Department and honor the leaders of the suffrage movement.” Changes were also announced to the reverse of the $5 bill to “honor events at the Lincoln Memorial that helped to shape our history” referencing a 1939 concert by opera singer Marian Anderson, and the 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
USA Today reports, “many in Jackson’s home state [feel] that the change is as much a politically correct attempt to diminish Jackson’s legacy as it is to celebrate Tubman’s accomplishments.” Others argue that Jackson, an opponent of central banking, should never have been placed on a central banknote in the first place.
Two things are lost in the discussion about the new face on the $20 bill: 1) the cost associated with producing these new bills, and 2) the very existence of a central bank.
The Treasury has not published an estimated cost of designing and printing new $5, $10 & $20 bills, expected to begin circulation in 2020, which may explain why the cost has not been part of the discussion. Does anyone else find it odd that a conversation about money does not involve the cost of the money? And the cost is more than just the dollars & cents and the raw material used to create the money; the real cost of the money also includes the purchasing power lost to inflation and the innovation lost to legal tender laws that force people to use the currency issued by a monopoly organization.
In order to really change the face of money, we need to repeal legal tender laws; abolish the central bank; repeal the government monopoly over the creation of coins for use as currency and prohibit federal and state taxes on precious metals and virtual currencies.

Yes, so people like Tubman deserve to be honored, not people like Jackson.
No President deserves to be honored. The only people who should be honored are those who made the world a better place. Every President has made it a much worse place.
Shutting down the central bank was a good thing, and a big accomplishment. This does not erase his civil rights violations against Native Americans, but I am just pointing out the good and the bad.
Whose picture is on the money is really not important when you consider that the fiat currency system in this country is fraudulent. Federal Reserve Notes should be abolished and we should have a free market money system.

“Jackson, demanding slave loyalty, permitted slaves to be whipped to increase productivity or if he believed his slaves’ offenses were severe enough. At various times he posted advertisements for his fugitive slaves.”
Very appropriate then that he should be replaced by the heroic Harriet Tubman.
Also according to wikipedia, Jackson owned as many as 300 slaves in his lifetime. Moving from a slaveowner to a slave liberator is a step in the right direction for sure.
And Hitler was an animal lover. Come on, this guy was a mass murderer, and does not deserve to be honored.

Jackson was rough on Native Americans, but on the plus side he shut down the central bank. This would be the modern day equivalent of a President taking on the Federal Reserve System.
Andrew Jackson was known for perpetrating genocide, while Harriet Tubman was known for freeing slaves. I’m in favor of the change. Tubman > Jackson.
What I’d like to know from military scientist Reid is “Should Lee have listened to Longstreet and Hood and
gone around the Union Army’s left flank on July 2, 1863?”
Changing the 20$ bill picture of Jackson was a very poor choice, and possibly subversive.
Jackson stood against the mega banks enslaving Americans, as is happening today.
Grant was a good general, butchering, knowing the numbers. He could do the math, for the victory,
but his presidency was a failure, marred in corruption and cronyism.
The 50$ bill would have been a much better choice.

Today’s message:
Greetings Libertarians!
An honest evaluation of Libertarian Party Candidates is provided. Can Libertarians handle the truth? Do Libertarians seek to perpetuate the crazed fringe image and perpetuate a tradition of presidential candidate defeat? This year provides the Libertarian Party an historic golden opportunity to advance liberties and freedoms while cementing a viable third party, dedicated to advancing liberties and freedoms as a necessary counter balance to the totalitarian socialistic fascism of DC cemented by the two pandering political machines. This is the year, for the Libertarian Party to take the White House. Please don’t dilute yourselves with pander, but be honest with yourselves, as the Party, the country and world depends on us Libertarians, to make the best choice, to advance liberty, to restore the country and to promote world peace.
NOW IS OUR TIME, OUR TIME TO ACT, and TAKE THE WHITE HO– USE!

Mr Perry says we need to “prohibit federal and state taxes on precious metals and virtual currencies.”
In California, if you buy at least $1000 worth of silver or gold, the purchase is exempt from sales tax. If you buy less than $1000 worth of a precious metal, you are charged sales tax.
Not a political point for or against Mr Perry. Just free advice for anyone in California considering an investment in precious metals.
