Libertarian presidential hopefuls Chase Oliver and Jacob Hornberger are scheduled to participate in a public forum at Rose State College in Midwest City on February 7, 2024. Hornberger and Oliver are the two candidates who qualified for Oklahoma’s first Libertarian presidential preference primary which will be held March 5, 2024. They were placed on the ballot as the result of a successful statewide petition effort.

The forum, set to begin at 7:00 PM CST in the FNB Ballroom in the Student Union building at Rose State, will be moderated by Oklahoma Libertarian Party Chair Chris Powell with introductions by Dr. Emily Stacey and Associate Dean James Davenport. Neither of the state’s other two recognized political parties have hosted or are expected to host any political debates or forums with their presidential candidates.

Hornberger, founder and president of the Future of Freedom Foundation, was the runner-up to Jo Jorgensen for the Libertarian presidential nomination in 2020. Oliver was the LP nominee for US Senate in Georgia in 2022, forcing a runoff between Herschel Walker and Sen. Raphael Warnock.

The OKLP invites the public to attend this forum and reminds voters that the deadline to change their affiliation to Libertarian to be able vote for one of these candidates is February 9, 2024.

His ego is probably not interested in vp and they most likely didn’t like his immigration position, and maybe other reasons. He’s not much of a team player from what I heard. Maybe they just like Rectenwald better. Smith used to be big with them but they had a falling out. It was probably more personal than policy. I don’t think he’s really different from them on issues, whereas hornberger does have some policy differences from them.

Jacob should have been the Mises candidate again this year and it’s been sad to see some MC leaders throw him under the bus lately when he’s done so much for the movement over decades of work. He probably shouldn’t have gone on YouTube to complain about Clint Russell’s debate question on vaccines, but then again why was an active VP candidate moderating a presidential debate anyway? That should never happen. I don’t think Jacob will win the presidential nomination but it would be great to see him ticket up with Chase and deny that position to Russell.
