The Green Party of Pennsylvania has recently extended the deadline for Green voters in the state to request a ballot for the upcoming presidential primary. Pennsylvania Greens announced earlier in January that they would be hosting a privately run primary.
To participate in the primary, any Pennsylvania voter registered with the Green Party must request a ballot by February 8, 2024, a one-week extension from the initially posted deadline. Voters have the option to participate electronically or request a mail-in ballot. Additionally, voters who plan to write in a candidate’s name can only do so using the postal mail option.
For postal mail ballots, voting begins on February 14 and concludes on March 4, 2024, with a postmark deadline of February 29, 2024. Meanwhile, for voters participating electronically, online voting via OpaVote will be available from February 15 to February 29, 2024.
The Green Party of Pennsylvania has additionally warned voters to be mindful of the specific dates, noting that any dates published by the Pennsylvania Department of State may not be accurate.
At its January 7 meeting, the Green Party of Pennsylvania State Committee voted to include all Green Party presidential candidates “that have submitted sufficient signatures to the Green Party of the United States Presidential Campaign Support Committee to have met their guidelines on our 2024 Green Party presidential primary ballot.” The language additionally stated that write-in options must also be available.
The party anticipates six candidates appearing on the ballot following those guidelines. These candidates include DaShaun “Daví” Davis, Jasmine Sherman, Jill Stein, Jorge Zavala, Randy Toler, and Robert Cooke IV.
