The Libertarian Party has opened nominations for party awards to be presented at its upcoming 2024 Libertarian National Convention in Washington, DC. The party has presented awards at each national convention since its 1996 convention.
The Libertarian Party began accepting nominations for awards as of last Friday afternoon. Party members are encouraged to submit nominations for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, activism, communication, and effectiveness as candidates or advocates within the party. Awards to be presented at the party’s 2024 convention include:
- The Thomas Jefferson Leadership Award for exceptional leadership.
- The Samuel Adams Activism Award for effective activism.
- The Thomas Paine Communication Award for outstanding communication of Libertarian ideals.
- The Patrick Henry Candidate Award for effective candidates at a state or federal level.
- The Benjamin Franklin Candidate Award for effective candidates at the local level.
Additionally, the party will induct members into the Hall of Liberty, which recognizes lifetime achievements in advancing Libertarian principles. According to the party, up to three individuals can be inducted into the Hall of Liberty per convention.
Nominees for the Jefferson, Adams, Paine, Henry, and Franklin awards must be current members of the Libertarian Party, while Hall of Liberty nominees need not hold party membership. Libertarian Party members interested in submitting nominations should send them, along with supporting documentation, to the Libertarian Party’s Awards Committee before April 1, 2024.
