Reform Party Endorses Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for President Amid Efforts to Regain Florida Ballot Access

The Reform Party nominated independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as its 2024 presidential nominee during the party’s national convention on Thursday night. The party stated that it intends to place the Kennedy-Shanahan ticket on its Florida ballot line, which is currently in the process of being reinstated.

In a press release published following the Reform Party National Convention on Thursday, delegates met remotely to nominate independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The party intends to eventually place the Kennedy-Shanahan ticket on its Florida ballot line. Independent Political Report was initially made aware on Wednesday that a group of members would attempt to amend the agenda to include the selection of Kennedy.

“Of course we nominated Robert Kennedy Jr. for President of the United States,” said Reform Party Convention Secretary Richard Kasa in the release. “He has more energy than Joe Biden and more maturity than Donald Trump. The Reform Party aligns with him better on the issues than we do with the establishment politicians. We are sure that he will be the next President of the United States”.

In response to his nomination, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said via X, “The independent political movement is coming together in support of my candidacy. Thank you [Reform Party] for stepping up! You’re the party that got the independent movement rolling in 1996.”

While the Reform Party of Florida does not currently have ballot access due to a previous failure to comply with Florida auditing requirements, a representative from the National Reform Party Committee leadership confirmed to Independent Political Report earlier in the week that efforts were actively underway to reinstate the party and that paperwork had since been submitted. According to Florida election law, as a nationally recognized committee by the FEC, the Reform Party should be able to place the Kennedy-Shanahan ticket on the ballot if the Florida affiliate is able to regain its party status and file the necessary certificate with the Florida Department of State by August 24, 2024.

The original list of business items announced by Reform Party National Committee Chair Nicholas Hensley earlier in the month did not initially include the selection of a presidential ticket and was intended to function as a working meeting. However, the party stated on social media that enough national committee members petitioned to amend Thursday night’s business, placing the selection of a ticket on the agenda. According to the party, delegates then selected Kennedy utilizing approval voting.

    Hi Walter,

From what I can determine, that information hasn’t been shared yet. That said, I’ll be reaching out to Reform Party Chair Nicholas Hensley in the near future for an interview on the convention.
