The Pennsylvania Forward Party recently announced that it has secured ballot access for two candidates pursuing statewide office later this year. Both candidates filed paperwork to appear on the ballot under the Forward Party label.
In an email received by Independent Political Report on Tuesday, the national Forward Party stated that both candidates, Eric Settle and Chris Foster, successfully qualified for the Pennsylvania state ballot as Forward Party candidates. “These two offices should be held by people who are independent and not beholden to partisan interests, and the Forward Party is giving Pennsylvanians such options,” the party said regarding contesting those two offices.
Settle, who is running for Attorney General, and Foster, running for Treasurer, were first introduced by the Pennsylvania Forward Party during a series of statewide campaign events. While Settle was previously a Republican and Foster a Democrat, both candidates said they would run with the Forward Party. Party leadership also mentioned at the time that it was looking to use both campaigns to help the Pennsylvania affiliate gain minor party status.
A press release from the Pennsylvania Forward Party, also referenced in the email, further indicated that neither candidate had their nominating paperwork challenged before the deadline. August 8 was the last day for filing paperwork to be challenged in Pennsylvania, with hearings scheduled throughout this week and into next.
