Seven presidential candidates have qualified for the Florida state ballot as of Monday, according to a list maintained by the Florida Department of State. Two write-in candidates have also filed candidate oaths and submitted presidential electors.
While most candidates filed to appear on the Florida ballot well before August, several others did not submit the necessary documents to finalize the process until last week. As of Monday, August 26, the list of qualified candidates includes:
Presidential Candidate Name | Vice Presidential Candidate Name | Party |
---|---|---|
Claudia De la Cruz | Karina Garcia | Party for Socialism and Liberation |
Kamala Harris | Tim Walz | Democratic Party |
Chase Oliver | Mike ter Maat | Libertarian Party |
Peter Sonski | Lauren Onak | American Solidarity Party |
Jill Stein | Rudolph Ware | Green Party |
Randall Terry | Stephen Broden | Constitution Party |
Donald J. Trump | JD Vance | Republican Party |
Shiva Ayyadurai | Crystal Ellis | Write-in |
Cherunda Fox | Harlan McVay Jr. | Write-in |
Notably absent from the list is independent presidential candidate Dr. Cornel West, whose Ballot Access HQ map still lists him as pending Florida certification as of Monday. The West campaign initially announced last month that it would appear on the Florida ballot through the Natural Law Party, which had filed for minor party recognition in the state and nominated West at its virtual national convention.
Editorial note: West failed to qualify for the ballot because his list of presidential elector candidates did not include the voter registration affidavit number for each candidate. Special thanks to Richard Winger of Ballot Access News for providing this information.
Also missing is now-former candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suspended his campaign last Friday. Kennedy was initially nominated by the Reform Party at its May convention and was set to appear on the Florida ballot through the party’s state ballot line. The Reform Party recently stated that it would leave Kennedy’s name on the Florida ballot unless he formally withdrew from the party’s ballot line.
With thanks to the Gadfly Politics Podcast for sharing information with Independent Political Report.
I have been informed, but not officially, that Kennedy has withdrawn from the Florida ballot.
Cornel West is not on because his list of presidential elector candidates didn’t include the voter registration affidavit number of each candidate, and it is too late to fix that problem.
