Party for Socialism and Liberation presidential nominee Claudia De la Cruz announced on Tuesday that she will be traveling the American South as part of a “Socialism in the South” tour to connect with and engage voters on key issues.
“The Deep South has been ignored and exploited by the two-party system for far too long. We want to meet, engage with and hear about what our community members across the South really care about. We know the South’s got somethin’ to say!” De la Cruz said on social media.
According to an announced list of stops, De la Cruz plans to tour four states over the course of one week. It is not yet known if Karina Garcia, De la Cruz’s running mate, will be accompanying her during this tour. Additionally, she will host two campaign events in Jackson, Mississippi—one in the afternoon and a second later that evening. The current schedule is as follows:
- Clarkston Community College in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, September 13
- The Pensacola Unitarian Universalist Church in Pensacola, Florida, on Saturday, September 14
- Home is Here in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, September 15
- Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, on Tuesday, September 17
- Cooperation Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi, on Tuesday, September 17
The De la Cruz campaign shared last month that it has already been conducting similar outreach in the Black Belt region of the American South, with volunteers traveling through Mississippi to discuss the issues most important to community members.
I wonder if she’ll cancel the Georgia stop or perhaps substitute South Carolina now that she’s apparently off the Georgia ballot.
It’s absurd to entertain the notion that all the staff of an entire organization choose to make that commute every work day rather than living closer to work, just as it’s absurd to entertain the notion that there’s any reason for Alabama being excluded from the tour for any reason besides not being on the ballot in Alabama (or thaf Mississippi somehow has more socialists). Alabama just has more difficult ballot access. And, it’s only an hour and a half when it’s not rush hour and there’s no wrecks or road construction slowdowns. For typical commute times, it’s longer.
These days – heck, even back when I was a student – a 90 minute each direction commute is neither uncommon nor relatively long by any measure.
Another Russian fascist Dugin/Marcy-ite supporting party brought to y’all from the “Becker Boys” Worker World days. Asked them how much Chinese money they have received from Roy Singham ( married to Jodie in Code Pink) jajaja. Who is Roy Singham? What does his web consist of?

Hour and a half each way, more during rush hour? I wouldn’t.
SPLC is in Montgomery.
They commute.
She’s on the ballot in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi.
It is obviously why they are avoiding Alabama. Claudia de la Cruz follows in the footsteps of her exemplars Strom Thurmond and George Wallace, yet somehow manages to be even more awful than both of them combined. Alabamans are fed-up with race-baiting communists. Campaigning there is futile for the Party for Slavery and Oppression.
The more likely reason for skipping Alabama is that she’s not on the Alabama ballot.
SPLC is in Montgomery. There’s socialist groups in Mobile and Birmingham. What part of Alabama are you in?
Notice they ignore Alabama.
Not that I blame them. The socialist population here is about 3, all in Birmingham. They work at SPLC.
