The Libertarian Party’s Historical Preservation Committee has finished making its appointments, adding three new members to the committee responsible for preserving party historical materials and maintaining the party’s online historical encyclopedia.
In a June 25 message shared to the Libertarian National Committee’s public Business List on behalf of Caryn Ann Harlos, chair of the Historical Preservation Committee, the committee said it had added Kyle Davis, Alfa Shaw, and Beth Vest as new members. Four members were retained from the previous term, with Harlos serving as chair, Joe Dehn as secretary, and Samuel Bohler and Andrew Kolstee staying on as members.
Under the LNC Policy Manual, the Historical Preservation Committee oversees the preservation and publication of Libertarian Party historical materials and administers LPedia.org, the party’s online historical encyclopedia, which was reportedly first launched in 2006. The committee is also expected to help raise money for preservation work.
The committee may have between five and seven members. Its chair is selected by the LNC, while the chair selects the remaining members. Unlike many other party committees, members of the Historical Preservation Committee remain in place across LNC terms unless they resign or are replaced by the national committee in order to ensure continuity on more technical projects.
The Policy Manual also calls for the committee to account for both the party’s physical archives and LPedia’s technical needs when determining its membership. The party has previously identified the physical archives as being located in Parker, Colorado.
Harlos said the committee’s meetings are publicly held over Zoom and take place at 5:15p ET on the third Monday of each month.
