Keenesburg Becomes First Town to Establish Local DOGE Advisory Committee

The Board of Trustees in Keenesburg, Colorado has approved the creation of a local Department of Government Efficiency, according to comments from the town’s mayor. The effort was previously announced by the Libertarian Party as part of its new Local DOGE Initiative.

“I am very pleased that our Board of Trustees approved the creation of the Keenesburg Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Advisory Committee at tonight’s Board meeting,” Keenesburg Mayor Aron Lam stated on X on Monday from his personal account. In a separate post, he added, “I hope that this will be a model that other Towns, Counties, and States will follow and appreciate the inspiration from @elonmusk, @VivekGRamaswamy, and the good Doctor @RonPaul[.]”

The Libertarian Party announced earlier this month that it was launching an initiative to establish municipal versions of the Department of Government Efficiency, the new advisory department approved by President-elect Donald Trump last month. The party described it as a nationwide effort, noting that Keenesburg was the first community with an active effort to establish such a department, crediting Lam for his role. Following Lam’s remarks, Libertarian National Committee Chair Angela McArdle praised him for being the first Libertarian to implement a local DOGE in their community.

According to a meeting agenda published by the Keenesburg government, the Board met on Tuesday to discuss the creation of the proposed department. However, further information, including a specific resolution outlining its duties and responsibilities, is not yet available.

Notably, Keenesburg was also one of nearly two dozen communities where voters elected a Libertarian Party member this year, according to information provided by the party. In addition to Lam serving as Mayor, a second elected Libertarian officially joined him on the seven-member Keenesburg Board of Trustees as of last night.

Keenesburg has a population of 1250 and is a statutory town in rural Colorado.

Not much to DOGE there, just from pure size.
