Libertarian Party Calls for Theme Submissions for 2026 National Convention

The Libertarian Party announced this week that it is accepting theme suggestions for the next Libertarian National Convention, which will take place in Michigan next May. The party states that it is seeking bold, unifying, and “unmistakably Libertarian” ideas from its members for the event.

In a post on X on Thursday, the Libertarian Party called on members to submit their theme ideas, adding that the convention serves as a statement about what the party represents and its overall direction for the future. The party confirmed on its theme submission page that Grand Rapids will serve as the site for its next national convention. According to additional information on LPedia, an online encyclopedia maintained by the National Committee Secretary, the convention will be held at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel from May 22 to May 24.

“The Libertarian National Convention is the single most important event for our party, bringing together activists, candidates, and leaders from across the country to shape the future of the liberty movement,” the party wrote on the submission page. “It’s more than just a gathering—it’s where we flex our political muscles, apply pressure for real change in Washington, and set the direction of the Libertarian Party for the next two years.”

The party asks members for theme submissions every two years, with the last convention theme being “Become Ungovernable.” To gauge support, the party solicits donations toward specific submissions. However, since a full list of options has not yet been made public, it notes that every dollar donated during the submission process for the 2026 convention will count toward the total vote once the choices are released.

While the convention falls in a midterm year relative to the presidential election cycle, the party states that it is still a critical event for the organization, as delegates will vote on bylaws and platform changes, elect the next Libertarian National Committee, and refine the party’s “strategy for advancing freedom nationwide.”

A funeral with as death dates when totalitarian clowns in each LINO affiliate went full Mises Derangement Syndrome sounds good!

Why do I care? I still have a few friends that are in the party. In fact, one of them just sent me some photos from the 2018 convention where I was lucky enough to win the bidding and put a pie in the face of a certain delegate from Pennsylvania.

How about something to push out the commie statists like Sarwark, Bilyeu, Chase Oliver, Caryn Ann Harlos, etc.

Stewart Flood isn’t even part of the party so why does he care? He just hates Mises because they aren’t communists.

The obvious theme: “There Won’t Be One. We’re Bankrupt!”

I wonder if Justin Amash will attend. That is his hometown and I think he still lives there.

Perhaps a funeral, with delegates all dressed in black? Instead of the usual signs listing the name of each state, perhaps small headstones, listing the year the state affiliate was founded, and of course it’s date of death when Mises took over.
